= So, DE = v(FD^2 + FE^2)
FE = v(DE^2 - FD^2)
= v{(10)^2 - (8)^2}
= 6
AE = AF + FE = 30 + 6 = 36
Therefore, Sumit is 36 m. in the East from his original position.
