Happy Diwali BA'ians!!!

India is a great country and is also known as the land of festivals. One of the famous and most celebrated festival is Diwali or Deepawali which falls every year 20 days after the festival of Dussehra in the month of October or November. People celebrate Diwali with great enthusiasm and happiness in India. On this auspicious day, people light up diyas and candles all around their house, perform Laxmi Puja in the evening and seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. The festival of Diwali is never complete without exchange of gifts. Diwali mark the victory of good over bad.  It is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

People celebrate it very enthusiastically to commemorate the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom, Ayodhya after a long period of time of 14 years of exile . Lord Rama killed the demon king of Lanka, Ravana in order to save the earth from the bad activities. People do whitewash and clean up their houses, offices, and shops to welcome the Lakshmi. They decorate their houses, light lamps and fire crackers People buy gifts, clothes, sweets, decorative things, fire crackers and diyas. Kids buy toys, sweets and crackers from the market. People pray to God for the happy and prosperous life. The spiritual significance of this festival symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and victory of good over evil. Many people also gamble on this day which actually profane the festival , so everyone must enjoy the festival and keep oneself away from these kind of harmful activities.

Friends till now we have celebrated Diwali with our friends and family  but this Diwali we all must salute and celebrate with the real hero of nation, Indian Soldiers (Army, Navy , Air force and paramilitary). Diwali mark the victory of bad over good and this ancient statement has proven right by the our soldiers who have conducted a surgical strike against the terrorism which is one of the biggest threat to the humanity. This Diwali we all must pray for the safety and prosperity of lacs of soldiers who are guarding our happiness and sacrificing their festivals for those to whom they don’t even know. Friends just by watching news and writing statements against terrorism will not help to eradicate the problem of terrorism from India, we all need to stand and at least support and perform our responsibility honestly. Once again we thank our brave heart soldiers for their sacrifices and pain that they are going through for us.

Happy Diwali!!
