IBPS SO 2016 Notification FAQ

Dear Readers,



IBPS yesterday released it's notification for recruitment of “Specialist Officer” in various offices of the Bank. IBPS's recruitment of SO will be conducted tentatively in January 2017. Selection for the post will be through a country-wide competitive Examination in two phases i.e. Online Examination examination followed by an Interview. And in this online examination Quant, Reasoning and English are just Qualifying rounds in nature, Merit list will be decided based on marks obtained in Professional Knowledge.
 What are the posts available under this recruitment project for freshers?
The post which will be available in this recruitment project are: (All are of Scale-I)

1) I.T. Officer

2) Agricultural Field Officer

3) Rajbhasha Adhikari

4) Law Officer

5) HR/Personnel Officer

6) Marketing Officer

☛  When will be the exam conducted?
IBPS's recruitment of Assistant will be conducted tentatively in January 2017.

Schedule of Online Test (Tentative) - January 28 & 29, 2017. 

However IBPS reserves the right to change the dates of examination.


☛ How many vacancies are there?
The number of vacancies are: 355 for I.T. Officer, 400 for Agricultural Field Officer, 65 for Rajbhasha Adhikari, 115 for Law Officer, 81 for HR/Personnel Officer, 946 for Marketing Officer (All are of Scale -I)

☛ Will the exam be conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?
Common Written Exam for IBPS SO will be conducted in online mode.
☛ What is the Structure of Examination?

The structure of the examinations which will be conducted online are as follows:

In this online examination Quant, Reasoning and English are just Qualifying rounds in nature, Merit list will be decided based on marks obtained in Professional Knowledge.There will be separate cut off for each section. Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score to be
considered to be shortlisted for interview.


☛ Will there be any interview after the written result?
Yes, there will be interview process for SO Recruitment. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100.
☛ What is the age criteria to apply in this common written exam?
Age Limit (as on 02.12.2016)
Between 20 and 30 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.11.1986 and not later than 01.11.1996 (both dates inclusive) 

☛ What is the educational qualification required for various posts in this recruitment process?

Educational Qualifications (as on 07.11.2016):



For posts other than IT Officer Scale I: Candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/ College/

Institute. 
☛ What is the application Fee?
Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates. 
Rs. 600 /- for all others 
☛ When will the registration start?
Registration will start from 16.11.2016 and will end on 2.12.2016
☛ Is the exam Bilingual?
All tests except the Test of English Language in online exam all others will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
☛ What is the cut-off for being recruited?
There is no fixed cut-off. It depends on the performance of the candidates and number of vacancies. Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Examination and also a minimum total score to be considered for further process.
☛ Is there a sectional cut-off in the exam?
Yes, there is a sectional cut-off in the exam. You have to clear every section.
☛ I have cleared the overall cutoff of the exam. However, I could not clear the cutoff for the English Section. Am I still eligible?
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to move to the interview stage. You must clear the cutoff for each section individually and the overall cutoff as well.
☛ Is there a criterion for negative marking?
There is negative marking of ¼ marks for every wrong answer.
