Reserve Bank of India yesterday released it’s notification for recruitment of “Assistant” in various offices of the Bank. RBI’s recruitment of Assistant will be conducted tentatively in December 2016/January 2017. Selection for the post will be through a country-wide competitive Examination in two phases i.e. Preliminary and Main examination followed by an Interview.

 What are the posts available under this recruitment project for freshers?
The post which will be available in this recruitment project is Assistant.

☛  When will be the exam conducted?
RBI’s recruitment of Assistant will be conducted tentatively in December 2016/January 2017.
Schedule of Online Preliminary Test (Tentative) – December 23 & 24, 2016. 


Schedule of Online Main Test (Tentative) – January 2017. 


However RBI reserves the right to change the dates of examination.

☛ Will the exam be conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?
Common Written Exam for RBI Assistant will be conducted in online mode for both Prelims and Mains exams.

☛ What is the Structure of Examination?

The structure of the examinations which will be conducted online are as follows:

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing cut-off marks to be decided by RBI. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by RBI depending upon Vacancy will be shortlisted for the Online Main Examination.

☛ Will there be any interview after the written result?
Yes, there will be interview process for Assistant. The total marks allotted for Interview are 35.

☛ What is the age criteria to apply in this common written exam?
For Assistant – Age Limit (as on 07.11.2016)
Between 20 and 28 years. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 08/11/1988 and not later than 07/11/1996 (both days including) are only eligible to apply.

☛ What is the educational qualification required for various posts in this recruitment process?
Educational Qualifications (as on 07.11.2016):
i) At least a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in the aggregate and the knowledge of word processing on PC.
ii) A candidate belonging to Ex-servicemen category (except dependents of ex-servicemen) should either be a graduate from a recognized University or should have passed the matriculation or its equivalent examination of the Armed Forces and rendered at least 15 years of defence service.
iii) Candidates applying for post in a particular recruiting office should be proficient in the language (i.e. know to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/ any of the states falling under the recruiting office.

☛ What is the application Fee?
Rs. 50/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates. 
Rs. 450 /- for all others 
☛ When will the registration start?
Registration will start from 7.11.2016 and will end on 28.11.2016
☛ I have scored 49.9% in Graduation. Am I eligible to sit for the exam?
No, You cannot apply as the you need to be a graduate with a minimum of 50% marks.
☛ I am 19 years old. Can I sit for the exam?
No, You must be at least 20 years of age to apply for the posts of Assistant.
☛ Is the exam Bilingual?
The tests except the Test of English Language in Mains exam all others will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
☛ What is the cut-off for being recruited?
There is no fixed cut-off. It depends on the performance of the candidates. Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Mains Examination and also a minimum total score to be considered for further process.
☛ Is there a sectional cut-off in the exam?
Yes, there is a sectional cut-off in the exam. You have to clear every section.
☛ I have cleared the overall cutoff of the exam. However, I could not clear the cutoff for the general awareness section. Am I still eligible?
Unfortunately, you are not eligible to move to the interview stage. You must clear the cutoff for each section individually and the overall cutoff as well.
☛ Is there a criterion for negative marking?
There is negative marking of ¼ marks for every wrong answer.

What will be the pay scale, allowance and Prequisites for this post?

Selected Candidates will draw a starting basic pay of ₹ 14650/- per month (i.e. ₹ 13150 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates only) in the scale of 13150-750 (3)-15400- 900(4) -19000-1200(6)-26200-1300 (2)-28800- 1480(3) – 33240 – 1750 (1)- 34990 (20 years) and other allowances , viz. Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance etc. as admissible from time to time. At present, initial monthly Gross emoluments for Assistants is approximately ₹ 32124/-
