SBI PO is the most sought after recruitment process by banking aspirants. Group Exercise and Personal Interview is the final round (Phase-III) in SBI PO 2017 Recruitment. Last year SBI introduced a prioritisation based group exercise which is also being conducted this year in the Group Discussion Round. Well I had my interview on 4th Sept, 8:00 AM batch. I was too nervous. And when I reached there, already two people were sitting in the waiting area. Verification process started well on time. And by 9:15 AM, all the 11 candidates were done with that. When the GD started I was feeling very nervous.

GD Topic- “Should India adopt cashless economy?”

Each candidate spoke on the above-mentioned topic for few minutes after which the group came to a conclusion. Group Discussion can be a tensed situation for some, but with confidence and clarity of thought, one can easily score in this phase. It is important to maintain the decorum of the session and avoid being too loud. Put forth your views and opinions firmly best backed by figures or facts and also let your fellow group members voice their opinions.

I was way too happy. It was a healthy group discussion. And we gave chance to everybody to put forward their views. Then second round was to arrange things priority wise and discuss with a conclusion at the end. In both GD and Group Exercise, I participated well. Overall it was a very good experience. I was number-2. After the 20-20 mins of GD Rounds, we had our Personal Interview.

Group Exercise is performed after the discussion. In this group, exercise candidates were given a set of few qualities/ attributes/ traits/ parameters which they had to prioritize according to their understanding of the topic/ situation/ thinking ability.

Personal Interview


Interview of the candidate before me lasted for around 10 minutes. And after he came out I was so nervous. As I entered the room I saw six members sitting on the sofa and on a chair in the middle. I wished them and they asked me to sit. I wished the mam separately.

  • Following were the questions asked:
  • What attracted you towards banking after you did engineering and MBA?
  • Tell me about yourself in two minutes.
  • What are your hobbies?
  • Difference between marketing and selling? ( I am MBA in HR & Marketing)
  • IT sector is facing human resource problem, as an HR manager what will you do to solve this?
  • Major reforms in banking in the last one year?
  • Personal experience and view on GST implementation as a normal citizen?
  • Ok, will you prefer a transfer to rural area banks?
  • Have you read today’s newspaper? (I said no as didn’t get any time to read a newspaper.)
  • Who is Women and child development minister?
  • If not selected this time then? (I answered this question and they laughed.)

I was happy with my performance. Waiting for results… Fingers crossed….
