Manushi Chhillar was recently crowned Miss World 2017. It had ended the country’s dry spell of 17 years at the top pageant contest. The first and the second runners-up for Miss world 2017 were Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza and Miss England Stephanie Hill, respectively.

The 20-year-old from Haryana is a medical student. She edged out top five contestants from England, France, Kenya, and Mexico. Chhillar was presented the crown by Stephanie Del Valle, the last year’s Miss World winner from Puerto Rico at the event in Sanya City Arena in China.

Chhillar is the sixth Indian to win the coveted crown, which was first won by Reita Faria back in 1966. Manushi Chhillar won Miss India title in June 2017. Manushi’s greatest strength is her family’s support. Months before winning the Miss World pageant, she promised her mother that she would make her proud.
