Types of Sentence Rearrangement Questions To Ace SBI Clerk Prelims 2020

SBI Clerk Prelims Sentence Rearrangement: SBI has released SBI Clerk Notification 2020. SBI Clerk is a two stage recruitment consisting of prelims and mains exam. SBI Clerk Prelims Exam is to be held shortly in the month of February or March. It consist of three sections in which English language section has a major role to play. English Language section is known to be the most easiest for some and impenetrable for few of them. Parajumbles or sentence rearrangement are one of the trickiest topic. They are time consuming and difficult most of the times when asked in banking examanination. Sentence rearrangement are a group of jumbled sentences that is to be arranged in the proper sequence. It test a candidate’s potential to understand the broader picture in the form of sentence set. 

Parajumbles (Sentence Rearrangement) questions can be of three types:

Basic: 

In this 5-6 sentences will be given and are to be arranged in the correct order formaing a passage or comprehension. It is popularly know as complete para-jumbling

Example:

1. Rearrange the following six sentences (A), (B), (C), (D), (E) & (F) in the proper Sequence to form a meaningful paragraph; the answer the questions given below them.

(A)Addressing a panel on countering terrorism at the Raisina dialogue, he argued that there has been a significant increase in radicalisation among young people in Kashmir.

(B) He suggested that youth should be “isolated from radicalisation in a gradual way” and to be “taken out separately and possibly taken into some deradicalisation camps”.

(C) But the government should reveal the nature of these camps that the CDS claims are functioning as they raise questions about their legal status and the identity of the youth there.

(D) There is no doubt that radicalisation must be countered at all levels, whether in
Kashmir or elsewhere.

(E) He also revealed that such camps existed in the country.

(F) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has a curious habit of saying things that raise the hackles of those who are concerned about military propriety.

Solution: Sentence (E) will be at the fourth stop in the arrangement.

(D) Lifestyle, social status and frame of mind all depend on your health thus everybody wants a perfect physical appearance, which may vary based on gender and age, and the way people see it is by attaining an ideal weight.

(E) To a certain extent minor weight loss can alter ones path of life. Whether it’s living life to the fullest or being overweight holding you down.

Which is the penultimate step after rearrangement?

Partial Para-Jumbling:

In this type, first and last sentence or maybe only one sentence is fixed and the other parts of the sentence are be arranged in order. Also, the fixed one are most of the times given in bolds. 

Example:

In the following questions, there is a statement divided into five parts, when arranged properly forms a coherent sentence both grammatically and contextually. The first part of the statement is given in bold to help you rearrange the other parts accordingly. Choose the best alternative among the five options given below each statement as your answer.

Forty-five years after / the Central government has allowed (A)/the re-entry of commercial mining (B)/firms into the sector, turning the clock back (C)/ India nationalised its coal-mining industry, (D)
(a)BADC
(b)BCDA
(c)DABC
(d)CDBA
(e)No rearrangement required

Solution: The correct sequence to arrange the sentence properly and meaningfully is DABC. The expression “the Central government has allowed the re-entry of commercial mining” gives a contextual meaning to the sentence. Hence option (c) is the correct choice.

“Forty-five years after India nationalised its coal-mining industry, the Central government has allowed the re-entry of commercial mining firms into the sector, turning the clock back.”

Sequence: 

In this same sentence with different sequence will be given. The question will be asked from any one of the sentence about its sequence.

Example:

Given below are four sentences which are divided into several parts. Answer the following questions based on these given statements.

Q15. Which of the following is the correct sequence of the rearrangement of the sentence (E)?

 

The correct sequence is 3124. The sentence after rearrangement is, ‘The minister’s attempt to redress the situation and defuse tension would be welcomed by investors, but avoiding such unnecessary incidents altogether would indeed be a much better option.’

Hence, option (d) is the right answer choice.
