Example: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday reiterated that the States going in for farm loan waivers will have to generate funds from their own resources.

1. Reiterate [ree-it-uh-reyt]
Verb: to say or do again or repeatedly; repeat, often excessively.
Synonyms: echo, renew, repeat, restate, ditto, double-check.
Antonym: take back.

2. Waiver [wey-ver]
Noun, Law: an intentional relinquishment of some right, interest, or the like; an express or written statement of such relinquishment.
Synonyms: postponement, remission, abandonment, abdication, disclaimer, refusal.
Antonyms: allowance, approval, sanction, accept, claim, face.
Example: Growing clamour
The remark comes in the backdrop of farmers’ agitations over the demand and some States.

3. Clamor [klam-er]
Noun: a loud uproar, as from a crowd of people; a vehement expression of desire or dissatisfaction.

4. Agitation [aj-i-tey-shuh n]
Noun: the act or process of agitating; state of being agitated; persistent urging of a political or social cause or theory before the public.
Synonyms: disturbance, turbulence, turmoil, unrest, upheaval, commotion.
Antonyms: calm, harmony, order, peace, tranquility.
Example: The Centre has its policies for the agriculture sector, under which we provide interest subvention and other support.

5. Subvention [suh b-ven-shuh n]
Noun: a grant of money, as by a government or some other authority, in aid or support of some institution or undertaking, especially in connection with science or the arts; the furnishing of aid or relief.
Synonyms: admission, allocation, allotment, alms, appropriation, assistance, award.
Antonyms: denial, disadvantage, refusal, repudiation.
Example: Cow vigilantes attack T.N. officials.

6. Vigilante [vij-uh-lan-tee]
Noun: a member of a vigilance committee; any person who takes the law into his or her own hands, as by avenging a crime.
Adjective: done violently and summarily, without recourse to lawful procedures.
Example: BJP president Amit Shah on Monday constituted a three- member committee, comprising Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and M. Venkaiah Naidu, to reach out political parties for a consensus on the alliance’s candidate for the presidential poll.

7. Consensus [kuh n-sen-suh s]
Noun: majority of opinion; general agreement or concord; harmony.
Synonyms: accord, consent, harmony, unanimity, unity, concord.
Antonyms: denial, disagreement, dissension, opposition, refusal, discord.
Example: What is significant is that the committee’s remit is to talk to all parties, not just those in the NDA.

8. Remit [verb, noun ri-mit; noun ree-mit]
Verb: to transmit or send (money, a check, etc.) to a person or place, usually in payment; to refrain from inflicting or enforcing, as a punishment, sentence, etc; to refrain from exacting, as a payment or service.
Synonyms: address, consign, dispatch, forward, mail, pay.
Antonyms: hold, keep, receive, retain, encourage, forge.
Example: The soldiers did their little dramatic routine, playing to the galleries with grimaces, boot-stomping and hoisted rifles.

9. Grimace [grim-uh s, gri-meys] 
Noun: a facial expression, often ugly or contorted, that indicates disapproval, pain, etc.
Verb: to make grimaces.
Synonyms: frown, scowl, smirk, sneer, face, moue.
Antonym: grin.

10. Stomp [stomp]
Verb: stamp; to strike or beat with a forcible, downward thrust of the foot.
Synonyms: dance, jazz, music, stamp, trample, tread.
