Kargil Vijay Diwas

The people who have really made history are the martyrs.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is named after the success of Operation Vijay. July 26 marks 18 years of India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War, a high altitude mountain war that broke out in May 1999 along the peaks of Kargil near the Line of Control, the de-facto border that divides Kashmir between the two nations. This was our fourth encounter with our volatile neighbour who is an angel of 'chaos'. And as they say that History repeats itself so in this war also the story remained the same. The cowards fled the warfield like rats & the control of higher posts was regained by our heroes. But the pain associated with this war is like a canker that always resides in our hearts. It was more than a daunting task to reach high altitude in the Kargil sector. But our soldiers proved again that there could be better equipped armies in this world but no army in this world that could equate the gallantry & fortitude levels of Indian Army.

It all started by the shameful act of Pakistani army when Lt. Saurav Kalia & his team, which went uphill at Kaksar area to trace the presence of infiltrators, was captured & tortured by the most disgusting & coward army of this world. Then after few days their mutilated bodies were handed over to India under tremendous pressure from International powers. And this started a full fledged war between India & Pak. However, our namby-pamby neighbour as always relied on hired Kashmiri militants & religious fanatics to fight their side of the war whereas our Indian side was full of young blood that was filled with valour.

On July 4, Tiger Hill was captured. This was the most important peak to regain the control over the area. This ensured the win of India but even after 18 years we couldn't get over the loss of our brave men at the frontier. The best we could do now is to contribute in the Bharat ke veer portal that is recently opened for the donations made to the Indian Army personnel by the civilians. We pay our homage to all the martyrs on this Vijay Diwas.  Jai Hind!!!
