" Believe in Yourself and Know that Everything is Possible": Kirti Banerjee (IBPS PO, UCO Bank)

"Opportunities don't happen. You create them": Deepali Sharma (IBPS PO & Clerk, Canara Bank)

I am Kriti Banerjee, I have done my graduation and masters in Zoology. Right from the days of my Masters, I used to perform as a vocalist in various regional television channels and work as freelancer anchor and news reader for Kolkata Doordarshan. I got a job in Wipro during my Masters itself through camping but at that time I aspired to make a career in music, so I did not take up the job.

After my Masters got over, I became a full-time musician and anchor. My biggest dream came true when I got the opportunity to do a playback for a very popular Bengali serial. But though my dreams were coming true, a sense of discomfort was also growing within me and I actually felt like a fish out of water. So, I decided to take a break.

In the meanwhile, I was filling up forms of various government examinations because my parents wanted me to, but I either skipped those or appeared without much preparation. From 1st October 2016, I stopped doing my shows and deactivated my Facebook account. IBPS PO 2016 prelims were coming up, and I targeted only the prelims and worked very hard.  I qualified the prelims and mains, and reached the Interview, thanks to Gopal Anand Sir of adda247, who always suggested the right approach and conducted extensive capsule discussion sessions. But I could not make it to the final list. On 1st April 2017, I was awaiting the results of both PO and CLERK and missed both by narrow margins. I was devastated and did not know what to do.

Bankersadda website was flooded with success stories, and those stories actually came to my rescue. I realized that I am not the only one who is facing such a situation, and those very people who were once in my situation are the ones who are writing their success stories today. I started following Bankersadda website like a bible. From there itself, I learned that CAREER POWER KOLKATA is offering some demo classes, I missed the English class but attended Reasoning class by Saket Bhadani Sir. I immediately knew that I needed to make the basics very strong to succeed and this is the right kind of guidance. The next day, I attended Deepak Gupta Sir’s DI class. I realized that the na├»ve approach to solving problems will not work in this tough competition and Deepak Sir has a different approach of solving problems.  So, I joined CP KOLKATA on 2nd May 2017.

My subject wise strategy:-

MATHS AND REASONING: - I had cleared my basics from Career Power (CP) as fast as possible. Apart from Deepak Sir and Saket Sir, Dharani Dhar Dwivedi Sir, Branch Manager of CP KOLKATA  has been very supportive in this regard. After that, I practiced as much as possible, daily quizzes from the adda247 app and mock tests.

OBJECTIVE ENGLISH:- I did not do anything special. I used to read THE HINDU every day, especially the EDITORIALS. That maintained my reading habit, enhanced my vocabulary and also helped in my current affairs section.

COMPUTER:- I read Lucent’s Book cover to cover and solved the multiple choice questions available at the end of every chapter.

CURRENT AFFAIRS:- I followed the Daily GK Updates of ADDA 247 app, wrote those down every day and revised them at regular intervals.

BANKING AWARENESS:- Bankersadda Capsule.

STATIC GK:- All thanks to Career Power faculty, who had taught us to use Maps for studying static gk and conducted several revision sessions, were very very helpful for memorizing and retaining the static part. Gopal Sir’s YouTube videos have some amazing techniques to remember static gk. I made use of both.

DESCRITIVE ENGLISH:- For this section, all credit goes to Sourav Dey Sir of Adda247, his videos for both SBI PO and IBPS PO were very helpful. I used to mail my writings to him, and he used to check and send me the feedback.

After a series of complete failures, partial successes, and reserve list allotments, finally, it was 1st April again. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that I have been selected in IBPS PO and allotted my first choice UCO BANK. This day would not have appeared without God’s Grace, the endless sacrifices of my parents, encouragement and support from my elders and friends, huge efforts from CP KOLKATA and ADDA247 team.

This was the toughest time of my life but has taught me some of the greatest lessons of my life. There are many others like me who are struggling to get their dreams come true. So , for them, I would like to share what I have learnt from this phase. Work hard to the best of your ability and never ever give up. You might fail multiple times, but that’s not important. What’s important is getting up once again with full faith on your own self. Everything is possible.
