i. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the following set of approvals. The important Cabinet Approvals are given as follows-

1. MoU between India and Singapore on Cooperation in the field of Planning- The objective of the MOU is to facilitate government agencies in the Centre and States, including Municipal Bodies, to readily tap into the expertise of Singapore agencies in the areas of urban development and management and other areas, and thus help in urban rejuvenation, mission.
2. Agreement between India and Denmark on Cooperation in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation- The objective of the Agreement is to encourage, develop and facilitate co­operation between India and Denmark in fields of common interest within Science, Technology and Innovation.

2. Sanitation Action Plans Prepared For 10 New Swachh Iconic Places

i. Ten new Swachh Iconic Places of the country came up with the thorough action plans for raising their sanitation standards to exemplary levels. The plans were formulated at a two-day consultation in Hyderabad held between Central and State Government agencies, local administrations and the Trusts of the iconic places.
ii. All the 30 Swachh Iconic Places, selected so far under the Swachh Bharat Mission, also resolved to make their sites completely free of plastic.
iii. These 10 sites constitute Phase-III of the Swachh Iconic Places (SIP): 
3. President Inaugurates Udyam Sangam-2018 To Mark UN SME Day

i. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Udyam Sangam-2018 in New Delhi. It is a step forward towards consolidating the convergence and synergy of all the government initiatives relating to MSME Sector. The President of India launched the Solar Charkha Mission which will cover 50 clusters and every cluster will employ 400 to 2000 artisans.
ii. The Mission has been approved by the Government of India for which the MSME Ministry will disburse subsidy of Rs. 550 crores to the artisans. A portal of the Ministry of MSME called “Sampark” was also unveiled by the President.

4. US Ambassador To UN Nikki Haley Visits India

i. The US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley is in India for the 2-day visit. During her two-day visit, Haley will meet with senior Indian government officials, NGO leaders, and the interfaith community to underscore the United States’ shared values and strong alliance with the people of India.
ii. Haley, the daughter of Sikh immigrants from Punjab, is the first Indian-American to serve in a Cabinet-level position in any US presidential administration.

5. Centre Releases Rs 340 crore for Flood Relief in Assam

i. Centre has released 340 crore rupees for flood relief work in Assam. Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh announced this after holding a high-level meeting in Guwahati with the State Government to assess the current situation of flood and the relief measures undertaken so far.
ii. 101 crore rupees was released by the DoNER, while the remaining 239 crore rupees was given by the Home Ministry under the State Disaster Relief Fund.

6. EAM Sushma Swaraj Introduces ‘Passport Seva App’

i. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj launched the new Passport Seva App. Now, people can apply for a passport from any part of the country through the App. EAM Sushma Swaraj has launched Mobile Passport Application on the occasion of Passport Seva Divas (26 June) in New Delhi.
ii. Police verification will be done on the address, provided by the applicant on the app and passport will be dispatched on the same address.
7. Key Decisions In 222nd Meeting Of Central Board of Trustees, EPF

i. The 222nd meeting of the Central Board of Trustees, EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) was held under the chairmanship of Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment (Independent Charge) Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar at New Delhi. The Central Board approved the proposal for insertion of Paragraph 68HH in EPF Scheme, 1952 provisioning Advance from the fund to a member who ceases to be in employment for a continuous period not less than one month.
ii. Under this proposal, a member can avail 75% of the total fund (including employee as well as employer share) standing to the member’s credit with interest thereon. The Board took note of the Investment of Rs 47,431.24 crore in Exchange Traded Funds (SBI MF, UTI MF, CPSE, Bharat 22) and notional return on ETF investments which stood at 16.07% for the period from August 2015 to 31st May 2018.
iii. The Central Board approved the proposal to continue SBI Mutual Fund and UTI Mutual Fund as ETF manufacturer for investment in ETF by EPFO for the tenure of one year. 
8. Manufacture Of Oxytocin To Be Banned From July 1

i. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has restricted the manufacture of Oxytocin formulations for domestic use to public sector only from 1st July 2018. It has also banned the import of Oxytocin and its formulations. Oxytocin is a naturally-occurring hormone which causes uterine contractions during labour and helps new mothers lactate.
ii. Oxytocin’s misuse is widespread in the dairy industry, where livestock are injected with oxytocin to make them release milk at a time convenient to farmers.

9. E Sreedharan Committee To Lay Down Standards For Metro Rail Systems

i. The government has set up a committee under former Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan to lay down standardisation norms for components with an aim to cut costs in the construction and operation of metro rail systems in the country and bring them under the Make in India umbrella.
ii. Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the proposal, following a meeting at the PMO to review ongoing and upcoming metro projects. The standards, once finalised by the committee, will be mandatory for all metro projects coming up with central assistance.


10. Health Cover Under Odisha’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Increased

i. Odisha government decided to raise the health cover from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for women. This was announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while interacting with the people of four districts during a video conferencing on Ama Gaon Ama Bikash Yojana.
ii. On the occasion, the chief minister also sanctioned Rs 31.54 crore for 154 panchayats in seven blocks of six districts under Ama Gaon Ama Bikash Yojana at the block level.

11. Maharashtra Government Forms Study Committee For Floating Solar Power Plant

i. Maharashtra government has set up a committee to study issues related to the development of a 1,000-MW floating solar power plant at Ujani dam in Solapur district. The committee will be headed by the Director (Commercial) of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), Satish Chavan.
ii. Among other things, the committee will study the environmental impact of the project and monitor the month-wise water level of the dam. Ujani is among the largest dams in Maharashtra.

12. World’s Largest Multilateral Naval Exercise RIMPAC Begins

i. world’s largest multilateral naval exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) begun off Hawaii in the Western Pacific Ocean. The two-month long biennial exercise is likely to be attended by navies of 26 countries including India.
ii. Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri has already reached the Pearl Harbour in Hawaii to participate in the 26th edition of RIMPAC exercise.

13. British Queen Elizabeth Approves Brexit Law

i. Britain’s Queen Elizabeth granted royal assent to Prime Minister Theresa May’s flagship Brexit legislation, ending months of debate over the legislation that will formally end the country’s European Union membership.
ii. The EU withdrawal bill, passed by both houses of parliament, has been signed into law by the monarch, to cheers from Conservative lawmakers The EU (Withdrawal) Bill repeals the 1972 European Communities Act through which Britain became a member, and transfers decades of European law onto British statute books in a bid to avoid any legal disruption.

14. 15th India-Australia Joint Ministerial Commission Held in Australia

i. The 15th India-Australia Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) was held in Canberra, Australia.  The meeting was jointly chaired by Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Steven Ciobo.
ii. Both the sides agreed to have greater collaboration between Austrade, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission and Invest-India, which is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India. The talks culminated in the signing of an MoU between Austrade and Invest-India in order to facilitate bilateral investment flows.

15. Economist Lawrence Haddad, Dr David Nabarro Awarded World Food Prize

Lawrence Haddad, who is a British economist and food policy researcher, and Dr David Nabarro, who has worked with the World Health Organization and United Nations on health and hunger issues, were named the 2018 World Food Prize recipients in a ceremony at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington. 
ii. The World Food Prize was awarded this year to two men who have dedicated their careers to improving the availability of nutritious food for pregnant women and children in an effort to reduce the effects of malnutrition in developing countries.

ii. Succeeding Sartaj Aziz, Janjua took over as Pakistan’s NSA in October 2015, he served as the NSA since then.

17. S Ramesh Appointed Chairman of CBIC

i. Senior bureaucrat S Ramesh has been appointed as chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the apex policy-making body for indirect taxes. He succeeded Vanaja N Sarna.
ii. Ramesh is at present the member in the board, mandated with the responsibility of implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

18. ISSF Junior World Cup: Saurabh Chaudhary Sets World Record, Wins Gold

i. Sixteen-year-old Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary set a new world record on the way to winning a gold medal in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. Saurabh shot a total of 243.7 in the 10m air pistol event in the ongoing International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) tournament.
ii. In the women’s 25m pistol final, Manu Bhaker was fifth with 19 hits and Devanshi Rana was eighth with five. With 8 gold medals, 1 silver and 5 bronze, India continued to top the medal standings.
