1. Gujarat’s First Mega Food Park Inaugurated  In Surat

i. Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Smt Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the first Mega Food Park in Gujarat. It is located at Village Shah and Vasravi, Taluka Mangrol, District Surat. 
ii. This Mega Food Park has been set up in 70.15 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 117.87 crore. The Mega Food Park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs. 250 crores in 25-30 food processing units in the park.

2. Arunachal Pradesh, British Council Sign MoU For Cultural, Educational Cooperation 

i. The state government of Arunachal Pradesh signed an MoU with the British Council to strengthen educational and cultural cooperation, in order to support the knowledge ambitions and economic growth of the state. 
ii. The agreement aims to enhance the opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh and connect them to international expertise and ideas.

3. 13th India-Japan Summit Held in Tokyo 

i. The 13th Annual Summit between India and Japan was held in presence of PM Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Tokyo, Japan. Issues of mutual interest, including forging ties in newer areas were discussed during the talks.  
ii. The areas include health, digital technologies, agriculture and food processing and disaster risk reduction.

4. India Donated 3 lakh Dollars For Peacekeeping Initiative At UN

i. India has donated three lakh Dollars for a peacekeeping initiative at the UN.
ii. The UN Department of Field Support announced that the Indian government donated the amount for the ‘Pipeline to Peacekeeping Command Programme’ with a specific focus on issues of conduct and discipline over a period of three years.

5. EAM Sushma Swaraj In Qatar On 1st Leg of Her 2-Nation Visit

ii. On the second leg of her visit, Ms Swaraj will travel to Kuwait on where she will meet Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and other dignitaries.

6. Michael D Higgins Re-elected As The President of Ireland

i. Michael D Higgins has been re-elected as the President of Ireland after receiving 56 percent of the country’s votes in the elections. Businessman Peter Casey came second with 23.1 per cent votes. 
ii. Mr. Higgins, who has served as the country’s head of state since 2011, will now keep the top job for another seven years.

7. Jair Bolsonaro Wins Presidential Election In Brazil 

i. Far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro has won a sweeping victory in Brazil's presidential election. Mr.  Bolsonaro won 55.2% of the votes cast against 44.8% for Fernando Haddad from the left-wing Workers' Party.
ii. Mr. Bolsonaro campaigned on a promise to eradicate corruption and to drive down Brazil's high crime levels.

8. Clara Sosa Won Miss Grand International 2018 in Myanmar 

i. Miss Paraguay Clara Sosa won the Miss Grand International 2018 title at the 6th edition of the beauty pageant in Yangon, Myanmar.
ii. Clara Sosa succeeds Miss Grand International 2017 Maria Jose Lora of Peru. India’s, FBB Colors Femina Miss Grand India 2018 Meenakshi Chaudhary was named 1st runner-up.

9. Simona Halep Becomes 1st Recipient Of Chris Evert WTA World No.1 Trophy 

i. World number one Simona Halep has become the first recipient of the Chris Evert Women's Tennis Association (WTA) World No.1 Trophy, named after WTA's first-ever world number one, Chris Evert.
ii. The 27-year-old had lifted her maiden Grand Slam title at the Roland Garros and claimed the WTA Year-End world number one singles award for the second consecutive year.

10. Vigilance Awareness Week Observed To Achieve Corruption Free Society 

i. The Vigilance Awareness Week will be observed across the country from 29th October to 3 November to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption-free society. The theme of the week this year is, ‘Eradicate Corruption – Build A New India’. 
ii. The observance of the week will commence with pledge taking by public servants in the Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Banks and all other Organisations.

11. RBI To Inject Rs 40,000 crore In November Via OMO 

i. The Reserve Bank of India has announced that it will inject Rs 40,000 crore into the system in November through the purchase of government securities as it looks to meet festive season demand for funds.
ii. The central bank had already injected Rs 36,000 crore into the system in October through open market operation (OMO).

12. Roger Federer Won 99th Career Title In His Hometown 

i. Swiss tennis star Roger Federer won his 99th career title after winning the Basel Open for the ninth time in his career.
ii. Federer, who was born in the Swiss city of Basel, won his fourth title of the year in the form of the Basel Open. Federer is now just 10 titles short of the all-time record holder Jimmy Connors, who leads with 109.


13. Ayhika Mukherjee Wins Silver Medal at Under-21 Belgium Open 

i. Indian table tennis player Ayhika Mukherjee has won a silver medal in the under-21 women’s singles category of the ITTF Challenge Belgium Open. 
ii. She lost to Korea’s Youjin Kim in the final. In the semifinals, Ayhika had defeated Hong Kong’s Chengzhu Zhu to enter the finals. 


14. Indian Golfer Khalin Joshi Clinches Panasonic Open India Title 

i. Indian golfer Khalin Joshi clinched the Panasonic Open India title at the Delhi Golf Club. With this win, Joshi became the seventh Indian to win the Panasonic Open India title in the last eight editions of the tournament. 
ii. It was also his maiden Asian Tour title. Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman finished second best after finishing with a par on the 18th. 


15. India & Pakistan Declared Joint Winners of Asian Champions Trophy in Oman 

i. In Men’s Hockey, India and Pakistan were declared joint winners of the Asian Champions Trophy at Muscat in Oman. The tournament director declared both teams as winners after the summit clash was called off due to heavy rain. 
ii. As the turf was completely waterlogged, discussions were held with the coaches of both sides, and it was decided that the honours will be shared. 



Obituaries


16. Former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana Passes Away 



i. Former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 82. 
ii. Mr Khurana was the chief minister of Delhi from 1993 to 1996 and was appointed the governor of Rajasthan in 2004.
