Do numbers scare you? Do you have nightmares on freakishly difficult sums? The kind wherever you’ve got numbers chasing you whereas you stand rooted to your spot in terror awaiting them to gobble you up? Do you find this section challenging when it comes to your selection in the banking sector? Well, we all know that quantitative aptitude is the most dreaded subject and if one does not possess good mathematical skills then this section can be a steep mountain to climb. In every competitive exam, the examiner does not test how you have answered the question or the method you have adopted. They only test your skill, speed, and accuracy.

IBPS has already rung the bell for RRB scale-I and IBPS RRB office assistant. Students who are trying to make their career in the banking sector, IBPS RRB is no doubt a good start. You will be allocated the composite time of 45 minutes for 80 questions. You should give more time to this section if you are good. You need to maintain your accuracy, time and speed to clear the exam.

Quant is an inseparable part of every banking exam. Be it prelims or Mains of the exam, it is inevitable. Syllabus for both the phases is quite similar so what are the main topics that one should practice for getting good marks? Below are the few topics one should start his preparation with.

Know how you can score 35+ in quantitative aptitude section in IBPS RRB 2019
Data Interpretation: DI is the most important topic for any banking exam. The kind of calculation that is needed to excel in this section is no rocket science. Its all about the practice. Your concepts on the chapters like average, ratio, percentage, and simplification etc should be clear. As DI can be based upon these topics. So these topics can cover the miscellaneous as well as DI part in your exam.
Number series and quadratic equation: These topics are easy and will require less of your time. If you are good at calculating it would be easy for you to solve the quadratic equation without taking too much time. Try to attempt these after solving DI.

Miscellaneous questions: Solve this part at the end. But if you are very good at it, solve it in the staring. But do not spend too much time solving a single question. If you think you can solve a question within seconds, go for it otherwise skip it for later.
Learning formulas: Learn all the rules and formula well but also make sure you know how to compute them. If you have practiced well and is very good at solving the question with the short tricks then good. But do not try to solve the questions with tricks if you are not sure, or if it is taking too long to solve.

Car numbers: If you are phobic to numbers and calculating them, then this is the easiest way to increase your speed.


1) Find a car– read the number written on it.
2) It must be four digits and must not contain zero
3) Make it zero- Perform any mathematical operation on the four separate digits TO MAKE THE RESULT ZERO.
E.g. a) 6428
6+4=10
2+8=10
10-10=0
