1. India  signed treaties with 37 countries to know the details of black money stashed abroad.
2. Russia’s Maria Sharapova won the French Open Women’s Singles Title beating Italy’s Sara Errani at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris.
3. Ace Indian Badminton player Saina Nehwal  won the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold Title in Bangkok defeating  Thailand’s Ratchanok Inathon in the final.
NOTE:- Thailand Open Grand Prix is Saina’s 2nd  title in the year 2012. Earlier, in April 2012 she had won the Swiss Open Title.
4. Government of India nominated Vice Admiral Devender Kumar Joshi as the New Navy Chief.  
NOTE:- Joshi will assume the charge after Admiral Nirmal Verma retires on 31 August 2012. 
5. India announced to allow foreign direct investment from Pakistan. The move is aimed at strengthening the bilateral economic relations between the two countries. The decision will also facilitate the economic integration in the South Asian region.
6. Union Government gave nod to the proposal of a high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This would reduce the travel time between the two financial hubs to 2.5 hrs from 7 hrs. 
NOTE:-The proposed bullet train with a speed of 300 km per hour would drastically bring down the travel time. The project is estimated to cost 60,000 crore rupees.
7. Haryana, a three member team of the National Women Commission led by Member of the Commission Shafeena Shafiq visited Rohtak today, after the report of the four member High court team revealed shocking details of women and children being gangraped and physically tortured in Apna Ghar shelter home of the city. 
8. Myanmar President Thein Sein declared emergency in West Myanmar today. 
NOTE:- The government’s move came following a wave of sectarian violence between the Buddhists and Muslims in the past week which left seven people dead and hundreds of properties ravaged in Rakhine state of west Myanmar.
9. Electronic Equipments major Samsung Electronics named Kwon Oh-hyun as its new chief executive officer. 
10. Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit 2012 concluded in Beijing with member states agreeing to further cooperation in a variety of fields.
