DAILY GK UPDATES: 18th JUNE 2012

1. Reserve Bank of India in its mid-quarterly monetary policy review today, decided to keep the cash reserve ratio and the policy repo rate unchanged at 4.75 per cent and 8.0 per cent respectively. The reverse repo rate remains unchanged at 7.0 per cent. The marginal standing facility rate and the Bank Rate is to stand at 9.0 per cent.
2. Inflation rises marginally up to 10.36 per cent in May.
3. China completed its first manned space docking, as a spacecraft carrying three astronauts including the country’s first spacewoman, successfully coupled with an orbiting module, in a major milestone for its ambitious space programme.
4. G 20 Summit begins at the Pacific desert resort of Los Cabos, Mexico later this evening. The conclave is expected to call on member countries to increase contributions to the International Monetary Fund.
5. Prestigious Yale University today announced the appointment of Indian American academician Anjani Jain to a top university position.
6. As per the export-import data released by the Commerce Ministry on 14 June 2012, India’s export dropped by 4.16 per cent at 25.68 billion dollar in May 2012.
7. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad has told that Teheran is ready to suspend its enrichment of uranium to 20 percent if Europe guarantees delivery of nuclear fuel for its reactors. KKK
8. Six major world powers- USA, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany began the crucial third round of talks with Iran in Moscow over Teheran’s controversial nuclear program.
