1. New Democracy Party leader Antonis Samara sworn in as the Prime Minister of Greece.
2. World Earth Summit 2012 known as Rio + 20 Summit on sustainable development begins in Rio de Zanerio, Brazil.
3. Information & Broadcasting Ministry extends deadline for Cable Television Digitalisation from 30th of June to 31st October, 2012 for all four Metros- Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
4. India and China today agreed to step up their defence and security dialogue and work to take steps to ensure that the two countries achieve a 100 billion dollars trade target by 2015.
5. RBI has allowed non-bank entities with a minimum net worth of a Rs. 100 crore to set up, own and operate money dispensing machines known as ‘White Label ATMs’on behalf of banks. 
6. BJP today announced Former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma’s name for the post of President. 
7. All India Tennis Association (AITA) today decided to send two Men’s Doubles teams for the London Olympics. The association has decided to pair Leander Paes with Vishnu Vardhan and Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna to team up for the London event.
8. The Rupee tumbled to new record low of 56.57 against the US dollar on increased capital outflows from equity markets and rising demand from importers amid the US Fed indicating weak growth prospects for the American economy.
9. The annual Lord Jagannath Rath yatra began in Puri, Odisha and Ahmedabad, Gujarat today amidst heavy security.
10. A major fire  broke out today at ‘Mantralaya’, the Maharashtra state secretariat complex that houses offices of the Chief Minister, key ministers and top officials.
11. International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) released its latest update of the Red List of Threatened Species. 
The report showed that of the 63837 species assessed, 19817 are threatened with extinction, including 41 per cent of amphibians, 33 per cent of reef building corals, 25 per cent of mammals, 13 per cent of birds, and 30 per cent of conifers.
