1. New Zealand’s Alan Isaac today appointed as the New ICC President for a 2-year term as current ICC President Sharad Pawar resigned from the post.

6. Guo Qinglan, wife of legendary Indian physician Dr Dwarkanath Shantaram Kotnis who provided medical assistance in China in late 1930s, passed away today in Chinese city of Dalian. She was 96.
7. Haryana Government decided to develop Rural Water Policy. 
NOTE: – The policy aims to prevent wastage of clean water through public open taps and unmetered connections.
8. Afghanistan and Norway today finalized the draft of the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries.
9. Coca-Cola today announced to invest Rs. 28000 crore by 2020 in India.
10. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) fined 1.47 crore rupees on HDFC Life Insurance against disobedience of number of regulatory provisions. 
NOTE:- It was the highest fine on any insurer.
11. US Federal Court absolved Union Carbide of Bhopal Gas Tragedy case.
12. India has stormed into the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament at Kuala Lumpur today after defeating Sri Lanka by 6 wickets. 
NOTE:- India will now take on Pakistan in the final on Sunday.
13. Italy has stormed into the finals of the UEFA EURO Cup football tournament after defeating Germany 2-1 at Warsaw in Poland.
NOTE:- Italy will now face defending champions Spain in Sunday’s final at Kiev in Ukraine.

15. National Security Advisor Shiv Shanker Menon today called on the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to express India’s concerns over the slow pace of devolution process and underlined the reconciliation issue and need for genuine political settlement of the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

17. Govt. today  reconstituted the National Advisory Council (NAC) chaired by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi by inducting Mihir Shah, Member, Planning Commission, and  Ashis Mondal, founder of the Bhopal-based NGO, Action for Social Advancement. 
NOTE:- The members who have been re-nominated are -N C Saxena, Narendra Jadhav, Pramod Tandon, Aruna Roy, A K Shiva Kumar, Deep Joshi, Anu Aga, Farah Naqvi and Mirai Chatterjee. 
The tenure of the members of the reconstituted panel is till May 31 next year.
18. Prime Minister’s Office today announced that the Draft Guidelines on General Anti-Tax Avoidance Rules (GAAR) have been put on the government website to get wide-ranging feedback on the issue. 
NOTE:- The proposed guidelines seek to  address investor concerns over taxation issues.
