Box N and Q are lighter than box P. Atleast 3 boxes placed above lightest box. The box which is going to parcel Mumbai is placed just above the box which is going to parcel Doon. Box P is going to parcel Jaipur and placed below box M.

Q5. Which of the following box is going to parcel Mumbai?

(c) O
(d) M
(e) None of these

Solutions (1-5):

Sol. (i) More than three boxes are placed between the box which is going to parcel Delhi and box M. Heaviest box is placed above box M. Box N and Q are lighter than box P. Box S is third heaviest box. Box P is lighter than S, so either O or R can be heaviest. Box P is going to parcel Jaipur and placed below box M. More than two boxes are placed between box P and box R. Box M and N are heavier than box Q, which is not the lightest box, so either O or R can be lightest. Two boxes are placed between box R and S.

(ii) For case 1 – O>……>S……>…….>…….>R(Goa), R is the lightest box and Lightest box is going to parcel Goa from this case 1 will be eliminated. Atleast 3 boxes placed above lightest box, so in case 2, 3 and 4 we get know that O is lightest and O’s position will be fixed. R is heaviest, Heaviest box is going to parcel Ranchi, so case 2 will be eliminated.
(iii) Only two boxes are placed between 2nd heaviest box and the box which is going to parcel Pune. It means two boxes are placed between M and the box which is going to parcel Pune. So, from this case-4 will be eliminated. Now, with case-3, Box Q is not going to parcel Pune, so Q is going to Parcel Delhi. The box which is going to parcel Mumbai is placed just above the box which is going to parcel Doon hence we get final solution.
