Eid-al-Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer. We hope this Meethi Eid brings you delight and enlightens your path towards sweet success. It is called Meethi Eid for the sake of beginning your day by eating something sweet  in the morning. It also signifies starting your routine on a sweet note after a month of Ramzan…the month of abstinence but praying.


On this day people wake up early to pray at a mosque or outdoor prayer venue. Gifts and cards are exchanged among friends and family. Eid means “celebration” and Mubarak means “blessed”, often Eid Mubarak is used as a greeting over this period and this day signals the start of Shawwal month in the Muslim calendar.

The Arabic name Eid al-Fitr translates to ‘festival of the breaking of the fast’ in English. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and marks the month in which the Quran was first revealed. The celebrations last for three days and are seen as a time of forgiveness and giving thanks to Allah for helping people to complete their spiritual fasting. Many people display this thanks giving by giving donations and food to those less fortunate than themselves.
