Answers:

Total number of passengers = 1200

Passengers from Britain = 1200 * 18/100 = 216
Females = 216 * 25/100 = 54
Males = 216 – 54 = 162

Passengers from South Africa = 1200 * 2/5 = 480
Males = 1/2 * 480
Females = 240
Passengers from Madagascar = 1200 * 6/100 = 72
Males = 72
Females = 0

Passengers from India = (1200 – 216 – 480 – 72) = 432
Females = 2/3 * 432 = 288
Males = 432 – 288 = 144

1. 2
Required ratio = 72 : 240 : 432 = 3 : 10 : 18

2. 1; Required percentage = 240/216 * 100 = 111.11% = 111%

3. 1;
Required average = (162 + 240 + 72 + 144)/4 = 618/4 = 154.5

4. 4
Required difference = India – Madagascar = 144 – 72 = 72

5. 5
Required total number = 162 + 288 = 450

6. 2
Req. Probability = 4C3/9C3 = 4/84 = 1/21

7. 2
Req. Probability = (3C2 * 6C2)/9C4 = 5/14

8. 4
Req. Probability = 1 – 5C2/9C2 = 1 – 10/36 = 13/18

9. 3
Req. Probability = 1 – 3C3/9C3 = 1 – 1/84 = 83/84

10. 4
Req. Probability = 5C3/9C3 = 10/84 = 5/42
