(d) 9%

(e) 6%

**Q15.If 20% of total students in 2013, are failed in yearly exam, 75% of total students are passed in year 2014 in yearly exams then what will be total students in 2015 if 400 more students are enrolled in 2015 from both years 2013 and 2014 together (consider enrollment is cancelled when a student fails in exam)**

(a) 2340

(b) 2900

(c) 2440

(d) 2800

(e) 2250

**Solutions**

S1. Ans. (e)

Sol.

I. 3y²–13y – 38 = 0

⇒ 3y² – 19y + 6y – 38 = 0

⇒ y (3y–19) + 2(3y–19) = 0

⇒ (3y–19) (y+2) = 0

⇒ y = – 2, 19/3

II. 5x² + 17x–54 = 0

⇒ 5x² + 27x –10x –54 = 0

⇒ x(5x+27) – 2 (5x+27) = 0

⇒ (x–2) (5x+27) = 0

⇒ x = 2, – 27/5

No relation

S2. Ans. (a)

Sol.

I. 4x + 7y = 12

II. 5x + 6y = 16

Multiplying eq. (i) with 5 and eq. (ii) with 4 and subtracting eq. (i) from eq (ii), we get

– 11y = 4

y = – 4/11

Put this value of y in eq. (i)

4x – 28/11 = 12

⇒ x = 3 + 7/11

= 40/11

⇒ x > y

S6. Ans.(b)

Sol.

S8. Ans.(a)

Sol.

S9. Ans.(c)

Sol.

? × 23 + (25)² - (20)² + 189 = (23)²

23 × ? + 225 + 189 = 529

23 × ? = 115

? = 5

S10. Ans.(b)

Sol.

594/?+15×36+1260/18=(26)²

594/?+540+70=676

?=594/66

? = 9

S11. Ans.(b)

Sol.

Total number of professors = 1/9×9/25×375=15

S12. Ans.(c)

Sol.

Number of male students in college P in 2010 = 13/25×500=260

Required percentage = (300-260)/300×100

= 40/3%

=131/3%

S13. Ans.(a)

Sol.

20% students in college R in 2014 = 20/100×450=90

Total students of college R 2012 = 250 + 90 = 340

Required ratio = 340/1200

= 17/60

S14. Ans.(e)

Sol.

Total students in college Q in all years =350+375+375+450+325

= 1875

Total students in college R from all years = 275+300+250+500+450

= 1775

Required percentage = (375-355)/355×100

=5.6%

~ 6% more

S15. Ans.(a)

Sol.

Total students in 2015 who are enrolled now are

= 1300× 80/100+1200×75/100+400

=2340
