I. A is taller than B but shorter than C. D is not the tallest.

I. If Ken, who is currently facing East, turns 90° towards his right, he would face a direction exactly
opposite to the direction which Ali is facing .

II.If Priya, who is currently facing South, turns left, walks 1 m and then takes a left turn again, she would face the same direction as Ali.

3. Did 300 candidates appeared for the written examination for admission into College X?

I. The principal of the college correctly mentions that the number of candidates who had appeared for
the examination was more than 200.

II.According to a statistical report, only 175 candidates could qualify the examination.

Solution:

Even by using both the statements together we can only determine that number of candidates
appeared was more than 200.

4. How far is point P from Point Q? (All the points lie on a straight line.)

I. Point T is exactly midway between points P and Q. Point T is 5 km towards west of point R.

II.Point Q is 2 km towards the east of point R.

Solution:

5. How many brothers does A have?

I. A, who is B’s brother, has two siblings.

II.D is brother of A and is youngest in the family.

Solution:

Even by using both the statements together we cannot determine the gender of B. So A can have one or two brothers.

6. How is J related to K?

I. J’s father P is the brother of N. N is K’s wife.

II.J is the son of P. P is the brother of N. N is K’s wife.

7. On which floor of the building does G stay? (The building has five floors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.)

I. Only the even-numbered floors are occupied and G does not stay on the second floor.

II.G does not stay on an odd-numbered floor.

Solution:

I. Using I only we can determine that G stays on 4th floor.
II. Using II alone, we cannot determine if G stays on 2nd or 4th floor.

8. How many days did Raju take to complete his assignment?

I. Mohit correctly remembers that Raju took more than 3 days but less than 9 days to complete his assignment.

II.Mohit correctly remembers that Raju took more than 7 days but less than 11 days to complete his; assignment.

Solution:

I. Raju can take 4 to 8 days to complete the work.
II. Raju can take 8 to 10 days to complete the work. Using both the statements together, we can determine that Raju took 8 days to complete the work.

9. How is the word ‘GATES’ coded in the code language?

I. ‘BRICK’ is coded as ‘LDJSC’ and ‘PIN’ is coded as ‘OJQ’.

II.‘WATER’ is coded as ‘SFUBX’ and ‘DISH’ is coded as ‘ITJE’.
