Solutions
S1. Ans.(a)
Sol. If someone has scored the highest overall marks in the state board exam, then it obvious that he or she has scored the highest marks in his or her school. Thus, conclusion (I) follows. If someone is good in studies, it does not mean that he or she is not interested in sports. Thus, conclusion (II) does not follow.
S2. Ans.(a)
Sol. Conclusion (I) tells about one of the effects of exit polls on the conduct of elections whereas conclusion (II) is a valid assumption and not a conclusion. Therefore, only conclusion (I) follows.
S3. Ans.(d)
Sol. In the question statement, it is mentioned that Brazil is the largest coffee exporter. It cannot be concluded that it only exports coffee. It may export other items as well. Conclusion (II) becomes vague as there is no contextual evidence of USA and Russia being the most important customers of Brazil. Therefore, neither of them follows.
S4. Ans.(a)
Sol. It is mentioned in the statement that all the girls are either swimmers or gymnasts. Conclusion (II) falls on the same lines. However, nothing is mentioned about male members. Hence, we cannot conclude anything about them. Only conclusion (I) follows.
S5. Ans.(d)
Sol. According to the statement, all writers are beautiful but it is not a necessity that all beautiful persons are writers. Thus, conclusion (I) does not follow. Conclusion (II) is vague as the question statement does not talk about any interest or choice. Therefore, either conclusion does not follow.
S6. Ans.(a)
Sol. As conclusion (I) and statement both correlate with ‘hard work’ and ‘award’ so conclusion (I) follows. Also, conclusion (II) is not correct because it does not indicate anything, which is described in the given statement.
S7. Ans.(b)
Sol. Increase in demand of tea is due to the falling prices so conclusion (II) can be concluded.
S8. Ans.(a)
Sol. The first conclusion follows the statement as Suraj is a member of the society whose members have their own businesses. While Vidhi being a daughter of one of the member of the society has the freedom of choosing her career.
S9. Ans.(e)
Sol. Both the conclusions follow the statement as according to the statement, a new system of education will come in effect from the next academic year which will allow the students to drop mathematics and social studies so that weak students will also get admission.
S10. Ans.(d)
Sol. Neither of the conclusions follows the statement as the statement does not indicate anything about the other languages known to Sidhesh. Also knowing Malayalam does not mean that Sidhesh resides in Kerela.
S11. Ans.(b)
Sol. Second conclusion follows the statement as the statement infers that the Indian economy depends on agricultural products so it should be motivated. But it does not indicate anything related to any problem with its agricultural practices.
S12. Ans.(d)
Sol. Both the conclusions are generalized statements and are not directly related to the statement as the statement does not indicate anything about their manufacturing or their media of import.
S13. Ans.(b)
Sol. The second conclusion follows the statement as it infers the grapes are expensive so that they can’t be bad. First conclusion is true but does not follow the statement as it does not indicate anything about the relation between production and the price of grapes.
S14. Ans.(a)
Sol. The first conclusion follows the statement as the statements stress on saving the fuel but it does not indicate anything about air transportation so the second conclusion does not follow.
S15. Ans.(b)
Sol. Since the statement indicates the working hours of private company’s employees as more than that of government employees, they do work more than the government employees. But it does not infer anything about their workload or performance.
