Mark your answer as
(a) If only conclusion (I) follows
(b) If only conclusion (II) follows
(c) If either (I) or (II) follows
(d) If neither (I) nor (II) follows

Solutions

S1. Ans.(b)
Sol. Here ‘beaten up’ is not an appropriate course of action for the boy since it would not change his behaviour of pickpocketing. Handing him over to a child welfare society is a way to improve his habit.
S2. Ans.(a)
Sol. To solve the critical crisis of BoP,  courses of actions I is required.
S3. Ans.(b)
Sol. Illicit contents should be banned by the authorities because punished is not an appropriate and permanent solution for the given situation. Therefore only course of action (II) follows.

S4. Ans.(d)
Sol. Statement infers only about opening a library in place XYZ. There is no indication of anything related to inhabitants of that place. In this way, both given assumptions are independent and treated individually. Therefore neither of the assumptions is implicit.
S5. Ans.(a)
Sol. The given statement directly indicates that getting a job is the major reason for students to join a college. Therefore only assumption (I) is implicit. Assumption (II) is incorrect as it is unrelated with the statement.
S6. Ans.(b)
Sol. Woolen clothes are not the only way to protect from the cold in winter. There are a number of alternate ways. So, conclusion (I) is not valid. It is a proven fact that woolen clothes surely protect from the cold during winters. Thus conclusion (II) follows the statement.
S7. Ans.(a)
Sol. The first conclusion follows the statement as Angola is the most expensive country so every other country will be less expensive than that. While the statement does not infer anything about the cheapest country or Switzerland.
S8. Ans.(d)
Sol. The given statement only infers that the food of that restaurant is expensive but does not infer anything about the ambience and quality of the food.
S9. Ans.(a)
Sol. The first conclusion follows the statement as the student who secures 96% marks would be a bright student but he may or may not be the topper of his class.
S10. Ans.(d)
Sol. Both conclusions do not follow the statement as the statement clearly infers that all irregular and some regular students fail the exams. It means that all successful students are regular but not all regular students are successful.

S11. Ans.(d)
Sol. Neither of the statements follows as conclusions are given or hinted in the statement. If the greatest contribution was from bowlers, it cannot be concluded that majority of players in the team are bowlers. There is no information about margin of win.
S12. Ans.(b)
Sol. Only conclusion (II) follows. It is not necessary that an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) will take Vitamin A. Moreover, it is not mentioned and hinted in the question statement as well. Conclusion (II) is a general conclusion which tells that we should take Vitamin A as it prevents night blindness whose evidence is present in the question statement.
S13. Ans.(a)
Sol. Only conclusion (I) follows. If most students (not all students) of agro business management are smart, it is possible that some of them are not smart. If in the question statement it was mentioned that ‘all students …’ instead of ‘most students….’ then this conclusion would have been invalid. Conclusion (II) is invalid as there is no information regarding general management students in the question statement. Thus, it will not follow.
S14. Ans.(d)
Sol. In order to be competent, a man must be hard working but the converse is not true. So we cannot conclude that all hard workers are flamboyant. Thus, (I) cannot be concluded. Following the same logic. Conclusion (II) cannot be concluded.
S15. Ans.(b)
Sol. The second conclusion definitely follows as the main statement sets an opposition when it says that the poor in India are amongst the ‘most upright persons’. The first conclusion cannot be logically derived as it talks about income disparities while the question statements mentions disparities in general.
