1. Alleged [uh-lejd, uh-lej-id]
Adjective: declared or stated to be as described; asserted; doubtful; suspect; supposed.
Synonyms: purported, so-called, stated, supposed, averred, declared, described, pretended, professed, suspect.
2. Breach [breech]
Noun: the act or a result of breaking; break or rupture; an infraction or violation, as of a law, trust, faith, or promise; a gap made in a wall, fortification, line of soldiers, etc.; rift; fissure.
Verb: to make a breach or opening in; to break or act contrary to (a law, promise, etc.).
Synonyms: crack, rift, rupture, aperture, break, chasm, chip, cleft, discontinuity.
Antonyms: agreement, closing, closure, juncture, misfortune, solid.
Example: “They (Reliance Jio) have not informed us,” Ms. Sundararajan said while replying to a query on the sidelines of an event.
3. Sideline [sahyd-lahyn]
Noun: a line at the side of something; a business or activity pursued in addition to one’s primary business; a second occupation; an additional or auxiliary line of goods.
Synonyms: distraction, diversion, hobby, moonlighting, recreation, subsidiary, leisure activity.
Antonyms: profession, vocation, work.
Example: Reliance Jio had claimed that data of its customers was safe. It had filed a complaint with the Mumbai police for a probe.
4. Probe [prohb]
Verb: to search into or examine thoroughly; question closely; to examine or explore with a probe.
Noun: the act of probing; a slender surgical instrument for exploring the depth or direction of a wound, sinus, or the like; an investigation, especially by a legislative committee, of suspected illegal activity.
Synonyms: examination, exploration, inquest, inquiry, research, scrutiny, study, delving, detection.
Example: Share buybacks improve earnings per share and return surplus cash to shareholders while also supporting share price during periods of sluggish market conditions.
5. Surplus [sur-pluhs, -pluh s]
Noun: something that remains above what is used or needed; an amount, quantity, etc., greater than needed; agricultural produce or a quantity of food grown by a nation or area in excess of its needs, especially such a quantity of food purchased and stored by a governmental program of guaranteeing farmers a specific price for certain crops.
Synonyms: excess, leftover, unused, over, spare, supernumerary, de trop, in excess, odd.
Antonyms: essential, lacking, necessary, needing, wanting.
6. Sluggish [sluhg-ish]
Adjective: indisposed to action or exertion; lacking in energy; lazy; indolent; not acting or working with full vigor, as bodily organs; slow to act or respond.
Synonyms: heavy, inactive, lethargic, listless, slack, slow, stagnant, apathetic, blah, comatose.
Antonyms: active, alert, busy, energetic, lively.

7. Subdued [suh b-dood, -dyood]
Adjective: quiet; inhibited; repressed; controlled; lowered in intensity or strength; reduced in fullness of tone, as a color or voice; muted; (of land) not marked by any striking features, as mountains or cliffs.
Synonyms: hushed, low-key, mellow, muted, restrained, sober, solemn, unobtrusive, chastened, dejected.
Antonyms: cheerful, happy, aroused, boisterous, communicative.
Example: “We built the autonomous systems in the cart in order to teach our employees to build autonomous driving technology,” he said.
8. Autonomous [aw-ton-uh-muh s]
Adjective: self-governing; independent; subject to its own laws only; pertaining to an autonomy, or a self-governing community; having autonomy; not subject to control from outside; independent; (of a vehicle) navigated and maneuvered by a computer without a need for human control or intervention under a range of driving situations and conditions.
Synonyms: self-governing, sovereign, free, self-determining, self-ruling, uncontrolled.
Antonyms: subservient, dependent, subject.
Example: He said that over the past two years the company had revamped the way it trained staff.
9. Revamp [verb ree-vamp; noun ree-vamp]
