IBPS conducts Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for selection of personnel in Specialist Officers’ cadre  - IBPS SO for various posts once a year.  This is a bright opportunity for candidates having a technical or specialised degree in the fields of Information Technology, Agriculture, Law, HR and Marketing to start a promising career in government banking sector. IBPS also conducts another recruitment process for all graduates for the posts of Probationary Officer and Clerk or Office Assistant.

IBPS SO 2017 Notification


IBPS has already given its calendar for CWE for PSBs and RRBs according to which some major changes are introduced this year for IBPS SO Recruitment. According to the calendar, from this year IBPS will conduct the examination for Specialist Officer in Two Phases- Prelims and Mains. Other details or changes will be known once the official notification for the same will be released which is expected in October-November’17.

IBPS SO 2017 Vacancy


In IBPS SO 2016 Recruitment, following were the vacancies for various posts of Specialist Officers: 400- Agricultural Field Officer , 65- Rajbhasha Adhikari, 115- Law Officer, 81- HR/ Personal Officer, and 946- Marketing Officer. IBPS SO 2017 Exam Dates

As per the calendar released by IBPS earlier this year IBPS will conduct recruitment of  Specialist Officers in a two-tier online examination. Candidates will first have to appear for the Preliminary Examination and then for the Mains exam. The marks obtained in Prelims will not be considered for the final merit list.


Tentative Date of Preliminary Examination: 30th and 31st December 2017
Tentative Date of Mains Examination: 28th January 2018

IBPS SO Exam Centres


IBPS has nationwide centres in almost every state and union territories, but the final list of examination centres will be released with the official notification which is expected to be released in October-November’17.

IBPS SO Exam Pattern 2017


This year IBPS has introduced a major change in the recruitment process of Specialist Officers. Earlier there used to be only 1 examination then followed by an interview but this year there will be a two-tier examination for this recruitment. 
The preliminary exam will be a qualifying phase for the mains and candidates will have to clear the cut-offs of prelims to be allowed to appear for Mains exam. The divisions in sections, timing and number of questions for the examinations will be known once the official notification is out.

IBPS SO Prelims and Mains exam will include the following sections English, Reasonings, Quantitative Aptitude and Professional Knowledge. The syllabus and level of English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude is same as that of any Banking Officer level recruitment; Professional Knowledge is the test of field-specific knowledge or field-specific aptitude.  Apart from online examination, there will also be a phase of Personal Interview.

Professional Knowledge test for this post is a test of Hindi Language, the syllabus includes Reading Comprehension (related to women empowerment), Grammar, Synonym (पर्यायवाची), Translation and Word Meaning. As it is a test of Hindi language and translation, candidates should be well versed with Hindi Grammar and build their vocabulary.

The online application for the recruitment of specialist officer will be released after the release of the official notification for the recruitment process.


IBPS SO Result 2017


IBPS will release the results in three stages after completion of each level Exam. The candidates selected in the rounds progress to the next one. Candidates can check the result from the direct link to official IBPS website as and when the results are announced.
