Dear Readers,

Last year SBI introduced a prioritisation based group exercise which is also being conducted this year in the Group Discussion Round. Interview experiences can help you get an insight of the difficulty level, environment and types of questions being asked in SBI PO 2017 Group Exercise and Interview Round. Keep on reading to understand the experience of Subhanshi Srivastava.

Thank you Adda247 for the invaluable tips and tricks you all provided me to reach this phase. I feel really lucky to have followed you :) Below I am sharing my SBI PO 2017 Interview Experience, so that as the previous experiences helped me, this might help someone as well. I appeared for my gd-pi for sbi 2017 on September 13, 2017 at LHO, Lucknow.
After a smooth document verification process, we headed to the conference hall for our GDs. After a session of introduction of the moderators and candidates, we were given the topic

GD Topic- "Indian Villages - Strength or Weakness"

We were given 5 minutes to pen our thoughts and then the discussion was thrown open for 20 minutes to arrive at our consensus. Each candidate participated and after a healthy discussion, we arrived at the conclusion that villages are our strength. Group Discussion can be a tensed situation for some, but with confidence and clarity of thought, one can easily score in this phase. It is important to maintain the decorum of the session and avoid being too loud. Put forth your views and opinions firmly best backed by figures or facts and also let your fellow group members voice their opinions.

Group Exercise - Qualities needed to embrace changes

Group Exercise is performed after the discussion. In this group, exercise candidates were given a set of few qualities/ attributes/ traits/ parameters which they had to prioritize according to their understanding of the topic/ situation/ thinking ability.
  • Adaptability
  • Adjustability
  • Resourcefulness
  • Optimism
  • Positive Attitude
  • Readiness to change
  • Risk taking ability
  • Flexibility
After much debate between positivity and  adaptability, we came to the conclusion that adaptability is number 1  and positivity came to a close 2nd. The moderators were really happy with us and said it was one of the best GDs they had conducted this year.

Personal Interview

Then we were called in for the interview. I was the second candidate to go in. The panel had 4 males and a female. They were really helpful and kind of had the amiable vibe. That really helped me to ease down my nervousness.  I wished them and sat down.

M1 - If selected in RBI & SBI, which would you chose and why?
Me- Sir if I had given RBI and been selected, I would definitely have preferred it as it is the apex bank of the nation. But the reason I prefer working in SBI is that it gives me the platform for direct public interaction which is not the case with RBI.

M1- But customer interactions are a pain. How would you deal with that pressure?
Me - Sir every role and job has pros and cons and so does customer interactions. We just need the correct balance of patience and communication skills to deal with this issue.
