Cabinet Green Signal For The Pune Metro Rail Project Phase-2

• The Union Cabinet has approved Pune Metro Phase-2, clearing Line 4 (Kharadi–Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug)—a fully elevated 31.636-km expansion with 28 stations aimed at easing congestion and boosting green mobility.
• With an investment of ₹9,857.85 crore and implementation by Maha-Metro, the project will integrate key hubs like Kharadi, Hadapsar, Swargate, Khadakwasla, and Warje, deploy driverless CBTC trains, and is projected to serve over 4 lakh daily riders by 2028, marking a major leap toward Pune’s 100-km metro network and sustainable urban growth.

Cabinet Approves ₹7,280 Crore Scheme to Boost Rare Earth Magnet Manufacturing

• Union Cabinet approved a ₹7,280 crore scheme to promote domestic manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets (REPMs), aiming to reduce import dependence and strengthen EVs, defence, aerospace, renewable energy, and Net Zero 2070 goals.
• The scheme targets 6,000 MTPA capacity across 5 beneficiaries, offering ₹6,450 crore in sales-linked incentives and ₹750 crore capital subsidy over 7 years (2-year setup + 5-year incentives), establishing India’s first fully integrated REPM manufacturing ecosystem and boosting high-tech self-reliance.

Cabinet Approves ₹2,781 Crore Rail Multitracking Projects in Maharashtra and Gujarat

• The Union Cabinet approved two multi-tracking railway projects in Maharashtra and Gujarat worth ₹2,781 crore, adding 224 km of new track: Devbhumi Dwarka–Kanalus doubling (141 km) and Badlapur–Karjat 3rd & 4th line (32 km).
• These projects will enhance passenger and freight connectivity (serving 585 villages with 32 lakh people), boost access to Dwarkadhish temple, support Mumbai suburban transit, enable 18 MTPA additional freight, and reduce CO₂ emissions and oil imports, aligning with PM Gati Shakti and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
