What is the BOB LBO Exam?

The BOB LBO Exam 2026 is a state-wise selection process conducted by the Bank of Baroda to appoint Local Bank Officers in the JMG/S-I grade. Candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility and local language requirements.

  • Candidates can apply for only one state.
  • Selection and merit are prepared state-wise and category-wise.
  • Knowledge of the selected state’s local language is mandatory.
  • Selected candidates are generally posted within the applied state for 12 years or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.
  • After this period, the Bank may transfer officers anywhere in India.

Selection Process of BOB Local Bank Officer 2026

The BOB LBO selection process consists of multiple stages. The Bank reserves the right to modify or add components to the selection process as per the recruitment requirements.

1. Online Examination

The first stage is an objective online examination consisting of four sections:

  • English Language
  • Banking Knowledge
  • General/Economic Awareness
  • Reasoning Ability & Quantitative Aptitude

2. Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates shortlisted for the next stage may have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Candidates who can provide valid proof of having studied the required local language at the 10th or 12th level may be exempted from appearing in the LPT, subject to the conditions specified by the Bank.

3. GD/PI and Other Tests

Depending on the Bank’s decision, candidates may also be assessed through:

  • Descriptive Test/Case Study, if introduced

The minimum qualifying marks for GD/PI are 60% for General category candidates and 55% for reserved category candidates, as prescribed in the notification.

The online examination consists of 120 questions for 120 marks, with a separate 30-minute time limit for each section.

  • Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
  • 0.25 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

BOB LBO Salary 2026

The Local Bank Officer will be appointed in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMG/S-I). The pay scale is:

₹48,480 – 2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – 2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – 2,680/7 – ₹85,920

Candidates with at least one year of prior officer experience in a Scheduled Commercial Bank are eligible for one advance increment, subject to the conditions specified by the bank.

Probation Period

The probation period for selected BOB LBO candidates is 12 months from the date of joining.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years. Candidates leaving before completing the prescribed service period may be required to pay an amount equivalent to three months’ gross salary, subject to a maximum of ₹2 lakh, as specified in the notification.
