The promotion process is being conducted for 813 vacancies, and the Online Test is scheduled to be held on 4 October 2026. Eligible clerical staff of Bank of India who applied for the promotion process can appear for the test as per the schedule communicated by the Bank.

Bank of India Clerical to GBO Promotion Eligibility 2026
The promotion process is open to members of the Clerical Staff of Bank of India who satisfy the prescribed qualification-cum-service criteria.
- Graduate from a recognized University: 3 years
- MBA/MCA/MMS/PGDM: 2 years
- CA/CS/ICWA/CFA: 1 year
- SSC/Matriculation/12th or equivalent: 8 years
- Without the above qualifications: 10 years

The promotion process carries a maximum of 100 marks, divided among service, educational qualifications and the Written/Online Test.

Service Marks

Pre-Promotion Training for Reserved Categories
Bank of India has made arrangements for six days of pre-promotion training for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates who have applied for the promotion process. The training is scheduled from 31 August 2026 in different slots. The specific slots are to be communicated separately by the Head Office Learning & Development Department.
What Happens If a Candidate Refuses Promotion?
The notification contains specific provisions for candidates who do not accept the promotion offer or subsequently refuse the promotion. A clerk who refuses the promotion, does not report at the posted branch/office, or seeks reversion to the Clerical Cadre after accepting promotion for the first time will not be eligible to apply on the next immediate occasion or for one year, whichever is earlier.
