India Rejects Hague Ruling on Indus Waters Treaty Dispute

India rejected the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) ruling concerning the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
India argued that the tribunal has no jurisdiction over India’s sovereign decisions.
The PCA stated that the treaty remains legally effective and issued interim measures concerning the Ratle Hydroelectric Project.
India did not participate in the arbitration and termed the tribunal “illegally constituted.”
The treaty broadly allocates the eastern rivers to India and western rivers to Pakistan, while allowing specified Indian uses of western rivers.
India maintained that the PCA’s pronouncements would not affect its actions.

Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031 Sets New Roadmap for Ornamental Fisheries

Semicon 2.0 Gets ₹1.27 Lakh Crore Boost for India’s Chip Industry

The Government has notified Semicon 2.0 with an outlay of ₹1.27 lakh crore.
The scheme expands the earlier Semicon India Programme to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
It covers chip design, fabrication, packaging, equipment, materials, research and talent development.
The programme has six pillars and 10 categories covering different areas of semiconductor development.
India aims to develop another one lakh semiconductor engineers, after training 85,000 engineers over four years.
The scheme is expected to generate around 50,000–60,000 direct jobs.

Bihar, Jharkhand Sign Historic Sone River Water Agreement

Bihar and Jharkhand signed an MoU on Sone River water sharing, resolving a dispute that had continued for nearly 25 years.
The agreement is expected to improve irrigation and drinking-water availability across several regions.
In Bihar, beneficiaries include Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Gaya and Patna.
Palamu, Garhwa and other areas of Jharkhand will also benefit from the agreement.
Chief Ministers Hemant Soren and Samrat Choudhary welcomed the agreement.
Amit Shah described the agreement as an example of Team Bharat and cooperative federalism.

Gujarat Extends Gutkha Ban Until September 2027 Across State

Gujarat has extended its statewide gutkha ban until September 12, 2027.

Separately sold ingredients intended to be mixed into banned products are also covered by the restrictions.

Indian travellers can now make UPI payments in Uzbekistan by scanning participating merchants’ national UZQR codes.
The facility follows an agreement between NPCI International Payments Ltd. (NIPL) and Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre.
Users can make payments directly from their Indian bank accounts through existing UPI-enabled applications.
The service supports person-to-merchant payments across retail, hospitality and other services.
Integration with Uzbekistan’s Unified National QR infrastructure is expected to reduce dependence on cash and international cards.
The partnership strengthens cross-border digital payments and India-Uzbekistan economic cooperation.

Private consumption increased by more than 9.9%, while government consumption grew 9.5%.
Gross fixed capital formation surged 20.4%, indicating strong investment momentum.

India’s Coconut Exports Rise 62% in FY26

India’s coconut product exports increased 62% in FY26 to ₹7,038.35 crore.

Major exports include virgin coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut water and activated carbon.

Union Government Receipts Cross ₹13 Lakh Crore by July 2026
