Supreme Court Sets November 30 Deadline for Aravalli Hills Panel

The Supreme Court has fixed November 30, 2026, as the final deadline for the High Powered Committee (HPC) to submit its report on defining and delineating the Aravalli Hills and Range.
The court rejected the HPC’s request for another six-month extension until February 2027, while allowing interim reports on specific issues.
The matter follows the November 20, 2025 ruling that used a 100-metre local-relief elevation criterion to define Aravalli Hills and a 500-metre proximity criterion for the Range.
The earlier definition faced environmental concerns because ecologically important areas could potentially be excluded, leading the court to keep the ruling on hold.
