7th April World Health Day: Current Affairs Special Series

7th April: World Health Day

Today 7th April is celebrated as World Health Day all over the world. At the first health assembly in 1948, it was decided to celebrate World Health Day and it is celebrated since 1950 till now. The celebration is aimed at creating awareness on health themes to highlight a priority area of concern for the World Health Organisation. 

This day showed to the attention the importance of health issues such as mental health, maternal and child care, and climate change. The campaign highlighting the WHO’s constitutional principle that the endowment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without discriminating for race, political belief, religious belief, economic background, or social condition. WHO said on the current pandemic scenario that, Covid-19 Pandemic has disrupted recent health gains and it has pushed more people into poverty and food insecurity, and amplified gender, social, and health inequities. Covid-19 Pandemic has affected severe on public health issues worldwide which was never seen before and all countries have to take major steps to cut it down and to improve the health which was before the pandemic. 

This year’s theme is: Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone.
