Government Announced Pilot Program of ANPR-FASTag-based Barrier-Less Tolling System

- Instead, a pilot project of a Barrier-Less Tolling System using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and FASTag (RFID) is being introduced at selected toll plazas.

Centre Notifies Radar Speed Measurement Equipment Rules under Legal Metrology Act
- The Department of Consumer Affairs has notified rules for the use of radar equipment to measure vehicle speed under the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011, effective from July 1, 2025.
- The rules mandate that all radar equipment must be verified and calibrated by Legal Metrology authorities to ensure accuracy, compliance with international standards (OIML R 91), and prevent tampering.
- This move aims to improve road safety, reduce wrongful fines, and support fair traffic enforcement while boosting domestic manufacturing and global competitiveness.

Government Clarifies No GST on UPI Transactions Above ₹2,000
- The Finance Ministry has dismissed false reports about imposing GST on UPI transactions above ₹2,000, clarifying that no such proposal exists. Since MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) on person-to-merchant (P2M) UPI transactions was abolished in January 2020, GST is not applicable.
