Narendra Modi Becomes India’s Longest Continuously Serving Elected Prime Minister

• On June 10, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 4,399 consecutive days in office, surpassing the record of Jawaharlal Nehru (4,398 consecutive days after election) to become India’s longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister.
• Modi first assumed office on May 26, 2014, and led his party to victories in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
• He is the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete two full-majority terms and the first since Nehru to win three consecutive general elections as incumbent. Earlier, he also surpassed Indira Gandhi’s uninterrupted tenure record.
• However, Nehru remains India’s longest-serving Prime Minister overall, with a total tenure of 6,131 days (1947–1964).

APEDA Facilitates First Export of GI-Tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai

• India achieved a major agricultural export milestone as Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever export of GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai on June 7, 2026.

• Farmers reportedly received about 10% higher prices than domestic rates, improving incomes and encouraging export-oriented cultivation.

Amit Shah Launches LPMS ‘VINIMAY’; India Moves Closer to Smart Border Management

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Land Port Management System (LPMS) ‘VINIMAY’ in New Delhi on June 9, 2026, as part of India’s Smart Borders initiative.
• The digital platform integrates cargo, passenger, and vehicle management with agencies such as CBIC, BSF, DGFT, and UIDAI.

Zojila Tunnel Breakthrough Achieved: India Nears All-Weather Connectivity with Ladakh

• India achieved a major infrastructure milestone on June 9, 2026, with the breakthrough of the main tunnel of the Zojila Tunnel at Minamarg in Kargil District.
• The nearly 14-km tunnel, being built between Baltal and Minamarg on National Highway 1 at a cost of about ₹6,800 crore, will provide all-weather connectivity between Kashmir Valley and Ladakh.

Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘Project Ganga’ to Bring High-Speed Internet to Rural Areas

• Uttar Pradesh launched Project Ganga, a major rural digital connectivity initiative inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. The project aims to provide high-speed internet access to around 20 lakh rural families, bridge the digital divide, and promote digital inclusion.
• It plans to create 8,000–10,000 Digital Service Providers (DSPs) and generate over one lakh direct and indirect jobs.
• Implemented initially in 21 districts, the project is supported by Hinduja Group through its broadband arm, OneOTT Intertainment Limited, as a knowledge partner. Integrated with the CM Yuva Scheme, it offers interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh to digital entrepreneurs.
