Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. ABYSMAL :- अति-गहन
Meaning:Extremely bad
Synonyms: awful, pathetic
Antonyms: good, excellent
Example:I got an abysmal cold last week.

2. ALLUDE :- प्रसंगवश उल्लेख करना
Meaning: To make a secretive mention of something
Synonyms: advert, refer
Antonyms: direct
Example: She alluded to the problem at hand but didn’t say anything more about it.

3. CLOUT :- ताकत
Meaning: special advantage or power
Synonyms: influence, advantage
Antonyms: disadvantage
Example: Children of rich and famous people often believe they have a lot of clout.

4. FEROCITY :- क्रूरता
Meaning: viciousness or violence
Synonyms: cruelty, violence
Antonyms: love, kindness
Example: The lion is just one wild animal known for its ferocity.

5. COMPLACENT :- आत्मसंतुष्ट
Meaning: satisfied, with no desire to change or improve
Synonyms: confident, satisfied
Antonyms: discontent, unsure
Example: Though he had never won any awards or even been published, he was complacent with his life as a poet.

6. EXPEND :- व्यय
Meaning:  to use up (as in energy or money)
Synonyms: finish, consume
Antonyms: gather, collect
Example: Be careful not to expend all your energy in the first half of a marathon.

7. PITIABLE :- कारुणिक
Meaning: deserving pity
Synonyms: pathetic, cheap
Antonyms: rich, comfortable
Example: The frail-looking dog was pitiable, so I gave it some food and took it inside to care for it.

8. REPUDIATE :- परित्याग करना
Meaning: to refuse to recognize as true or to cast off
Synonyms: abandon, disown
Antonyms: accept, allow
Example: She repudiated her son once she found out he’d married someone without telling her.

9. PERSECUTE :- सताना
Meaning:  to cause suffering to
Synonyms: expel, molest
Antonyms: aid, assist
Example: They will persecute anyone who doesn’t agree with their views of the world.

10. UNMITIGATED :- अबाधित
Meaning: Being downright utter
Synonyms: sheer, unqualified
Antonyms: mixed, imperfect



Example: My speech was an unmitigated disaster!
