Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. NOXIOUS : हानिकारक
Meaning: physically harmful or destructive to living beings
Synonyms: unhealthy, noisome
Antonyms: healthy, healthful
Example: They died from inhaling noxious fumes.


2. WHOLESOME : पौष्टिक
Meaning: promoting health or well-being of mind or spirit
Synonyms: fit, hale
Antonyms: ailing, ill
Example: Wholesome food helps keep you healthy.


3. SALUBRIOUS : स्वास्थ्यप्रद
Meaning: favorable to or promoting health or well-being
Synonyms: medicinal, tonic
Antonyms: unhealthy, insalubrious
Example: Emergent public health and sanitary experts actively sought the most salubrious and efficient means of refuse disposal.


4. INCANDESCENT : उज्ज्वल
Meaning: white, glowing, or luminous with intense heat
Synonyms: bright, illuminating
Antonyms: gloomy, murky
Example: The mountain’s snow-white peak was incandescent against the blue sky.


5. ACCRETIVE : संचयी
Meaning: produced by or growing by a series of additions of identical or similar things
Synonyms: cummulative, additive
Antonyms: degressive, decremental

6. REBUKE : फटकार
Meaning: an often public or formal expression of disapproval
Synonyms: censure, reproach

7. SUPERCILIOUS : घमंडी
Meaning: coolly and patronizingly haughty
Synonyms: arrogant, imperious
Antonyms: lowly, humble

8. HAUGHTY : अकड़बाज़
Meaning: having a feeling of superiority that shows itself in an overbearing attitude
Synonyms: cavalier, pompous
Antonyms: modest, humble
Example: They were displeased with her haughty airs.


9. DIFFIDENT : संकोची
Meaning: hesitant in acting or speaking through lack of self-confidence
Synonyms: backward, demure
Antonyms: extroverted, immodest
Example: You shouldn’t be so diffident about your achievements – you’ve done really well!


10. RECEDE : दूर जाना, पीछे हटना
Meaning:to move back or away
Synonyms: retreat, retract
Antonyms: approach, distend
Example: The mountain peaks recede into the distance as one leaves the shore.
