 2 April – World Autism Awareness Day 

2017 Theme by United Nations Organisation: “Toward Autonomy and Self-Determination”. World Autism Awareness Day aims to increase people’s awareness about people, especially children, with autism.

 5 April – National Maritime Day 

April 5 marks the National Maritime Day of India. On this day in 1919, navigation history was created when SS Loyalty, the first ship of the Scindia Steam Navigation Company, journeyed to the United Kingdom. The National Maritime Day was first celebrated on 5th April 1964.

7 April – World Health Day 

World Health Day, celebrated on 7 April every year to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization. The theme of 2017 World Health Day campaign was depression.

10 April – World Homoeopathy Day 

10th April is the birth Anniversary of Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, best known for creating the system of alternative medicine called homoeopathy.

11 April – National Safe Motherhood Day 

In order to address the challenge of maternal mortality rate and Women’s Health Issues, the Government of India, on the appeal of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, India, declared the 11th of April as the National Safe Motherhood Day.

18 April – World Heritage Day 

Every year on 18 April, ICOMOS celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Sites, whose establishment was approved by the 22nd UNESCO General Conference in 1983. In 2017, the theme is “Cultural Heritage & Sustainable Tourism”.

22 April – World Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

24 April – National Panchayati Day

The Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24th April 1993 has institutionalised Panchayati Raj through the village, Intermediate and District level Panchayats.

25 April – World Malaria Day

This year’s global theme for World Malaria Day is “End Malaria for Good”. World Malaria Day was established by WHO Members and since 2008, the global community comes together to commemorate World Malaria Day on April 25.

26 April – World Intellectual Property Day

Every April 26, is celebrated as World Intellectual Property Day to learn about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in the year 2000.

29 April – International Dance Day

International Dance Day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO.
