“लोगों के तो दिन अच्छे आते हैं, मेरा तो जमाना आ गया”: Kundan Sharma ( Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank PO)-14

Hello Friends

"लोगों के तो दिन अच्छे आते हैं, मेरा तो जमाना आ गया": Kundan Sharma ( Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank PO)-14 |_2.1

I am Kundan Sharma from  Jehanabad Bihar. I am not a silent reader rather I am a violent one. I belong to a proper middle-class family, neither very rich nor very poor.  I did my basic schooling from Jehanabad itself. After my matriculation, I moved to Patna for the intermediate course and higher studies after that.

I am a Hindi medium student. I studied from Bihar Board Hindi medium till my 12th. After that, I opted for graduation in Mathematics as it has always been my favourite subject. Completed my graduation in 2014 and started writing exams in 2015.

Here is all in chronological order

Graduation – B.Sc Math (Hons), 2014

2015 :
RRB Assistant & Scale 1 – Both fail
IBPS PO and Clerk – Both Pre-cleared and Mains failed in both

Now 2016:
IBPS PO and Clerk: Both failed in Pre
RRB Assistant & Scale 1 – Selected in both

RRB Assistant joining on 27 April in  Bihar Gramin Bank
Scale 1 – Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank, joining has not come yet.

When I completed my intermediate, I started preparing for Air-force technical staff and cleared but my elder brother (already in airforce) told me not to join and rather be a civilian as there should be someone near to family and take care of the parents as well. So I started preparing for banks then. I joined a local coaching institute for English and Reasoning. Mathematics coaching was not required as I am a Maths graduate.

There were two major challenges which I faced in my preparation –
1 – English
2 – Social pressure

let me go into some details. As I had been a Hindi medium student, I was always surrounded by a Hindi environment so I had less exposure to English. Well, this is the common problem among guys coming from state boards so you can understand the pain behind it. I did work very hard for English and improved a lot over the year but my selection happened because of my Hindi (RRB PO and Assistant  )

Social Pressure is also very common and almost everyone doing preparation goes through this phase. I left my hometown just after my matriculation so overall I spent 6 years in Patna including intermediate, graduation and one-year preparation duration. Meanwhile, back in my village, people often asked my father – “bhai sahab, Kundan kabse padhai kar rha hai? kahi job vob laga ladke ka?” (Since how long your son is doing his studies? had he secured any job?). They asked similar questions to me also. Sometimes it was just to ask as a well-wisher and many times I could see a mockery. I started to think if studying has also become a stigma.

Also, I am the second one out of our three brothers and you might be knowing how it feels having an elder brother who is concerned for you. So a dose from big boss (read brother) was my weekend meal which turned out to be very healthy later on.

My interview was also a normal one. The panel did not ask me very hard questions. There were some personal questions and few banking related questions. They asked me the difference between NEFT and RTGS. Also, the question, why should we hire you? I did not tell the ready-made answer, rather I told what came to my mind that time.

After the interview, I had the intuition that I am selected. I even thought of myself going to bank in formal uniform. To my surprise, the bank I was thinking in my dreams is allotted to me. Once I read a book “Secret” telling if you believe it happened, it will happen for sure. I found it true in my case.
Now, let me share how I did my preparation and cracked it :

English –
1 – Daily newspaper reading
2- Vocabulary and reuse from newspapers etc, followed BA vocabulary posts
3 -Grasping Grammar rules and practising them along

Reasoning-
1 – Solve 4-5 puzzles daily as you simply can not clear exams without clearing puzzles
2- This section can give you high marks in less time so be wise to select easy questions first
3- Practice a lot
4- Try solving in mind rather going to pen paper mode

Quantitative –
1- Solve 3-4 DI questions daily
2- Trick and tips will not help you in exam hall so be highly efficient with basic methods
3- Hone your calculation skills

GA –
1 – BA capsule and daily current affairs are enough to get good marks. Also, forget not to read newspaper on daily basis.
2- Keep checking RBI website.
3- First of all, finish the static part as it will surely give you 3-4 marks

Computer –
There is no full proof resource for this portion as the level of questions is increasing year by year. But following BA and getting any book dedicated to baking exams will help you for sure.

Some additional points:
1 – Develop a viewpoint of a banker. Start thinking like a banker and think what I would have done in any particular situation
2- Don’t listen much to critics as they will always have a point to criticise
3- Look towards your parents when you start losing hope and motivation
4- Ask questions, you can’t grow without asking
5- Patience, perseverance and contentment, remember these three words.

I want to thank Bankers Adda team for being with me throughout my preparation.  Special thanks to those who do share educational stuff in the comments section, it really helps. Also, thanks to hunterr#Nitesh, Bahubali#limitless and those who do chit-chat n fun because you guys made me smile in the time of distress.

When I finally got my selection and looked at my books, I got nostalgic that these books will not be touched in future. At that very moment, I decided that I will keep studying later also. It is the journey’s first stop, will be reaching even greater milestones in future.
Always remember friends, being happy is the most necessary thing for success. Be happy enjoy life and Enjoy your preparation time as well

I would like to conclude my story with the final lines –
“लोगों के तो दिन अच्छे आते हैं, मेरा तो जमाना आ गया
In English- People seek for good days while I got blessed with a fortune.”

All the best for your upcoming exams
