National Statistical Office released the Employment Outlook of India

National Statistical Office released the Employment Outlook of India: Based on administrative records held by a few selected government agencies, the National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has published a press note on the employment outlook of the nation for the period September 2017 to August 2022 to evaluate progress in various dimensions.

Employment Outlook Report: Key Points

  • Using data on the number of subscribers who have subscribed under three major schemes, namely the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) Scheme, the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme, and the National Pension Scheme, this Ministry has been publishing employment-related statistics in the formal sector since April 2018 covering the period from September 2017 onward
  • The numbers of subscribers come from a variety of sources, and there is some overlap. For the period September 2017 to August 2022, detailed information is presented individually on the respective organization websites.
  • The data is based on the number of subscribers, and the tables reflect a dynamic status for six time periods: (a) September 2017 – March 2018, (b) April 2018 – March 2019, (c) April 2019 – March 2020, (d) April 2020 – March 2021, (e) April 2021 – March 2022, and (f) monthly data beginning in April 2022.

The Report aims to track trends in hiring sentiment across the country and forecast job growth by city and industry; drill across locations, business size, and hierarchy to provide more statistics dimensions and determine the primary drivers of hiring mood at the big picture and industry levels.
