Prime Minister’s Address to Nation on 30 June- Key Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today, 30 June at 4PM. PM’s address comes against the backdrop of standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh; where around 20 Indian army personnel were killed in the attack. This is the Prime Minister’s 6th address to the people of India since the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in the country. India will enter into the Unlock 2 phase from 1st July onwards, the guidelines for which have been released by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 29 June 2020 itself. PM opened his speech by mentioning that since the begining of Unlock 1, people have become less cautious and are not taking proper social distancing measures and proper care. It is imperative that people of the country stay alert and address this pandemic with the same caution as they’ve done during the lockdown phase.

Prime Minister has asked the people to not let their guard down as the coronavirus pandemic is still a cause of concern.

PM also shared that 20 crore accounts have received 31,000 crore in their Jan Dhan Accounts under the PMGKY.

Important Announcements by the Prime Minister

PM said “the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana has been extended till Diwali and Chhath Puja, that is, by the end of November”

One Nation One Ration Card will be implemented- this will espicially benifit those people who leave their native-place, native -state to find work in some other state.

PM expresses gratitude towards tax payers and farmers, who have contributed directly and indirectly to help the government execute such policies to provide foodgarin to economically weaker section during this pandemic.

PM urges the citizens to take the pledge of Vocal for Local and work for the betterment of the society and country at large. Also everyone should stay alert and use masks, take care of social distancing norms and stay safe.
