Reasoning For IBPS/BOM Exams |_2.1
We have started the 56 days Study Plan for IBPS PO Prelims. This study plan is to efficiently utilize time and hard work to channelize it towards smart work. From now quizzes on Bankersadda will be according to the given study plan and this will help you prepare important topics in limited time.
Today is DAY 47 of the study plan and in Reasoning today’s chapter is Practice Mock-1 and Analysis

Q1. Which of the given statements will be definitely true if the expression ‘V < E > B = H ≥ N ≥ P’ is definitely true?
(a) P ≤ B
(b) H < V
(c) N ≥ V
(d) E ≥ N
(e) E ≥ P
Statement: ‘V < E > B = H ≥ N ≥ P’
Hence, P ≤ B is definitely true

Q2. Which of the following is definitely true if the statements given below are considered to be true? (You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.)
No kite is a bird.
All reptiles are birds.
All kites are apple.
All apple are plants.
(a) All apple being birds is a possibility.
(b) All plants being reptiles is a possibility.
(c) At least some reptiles are apple.
(d) All kites are plants.
(e) At least some plants are reptiles.

Directions (3-4): Read the given information carefully and answer the questions.

Each of the six persons P, Q, R, S, T and U has travelled to a different number of countries. R has travelled to more number of countries than only S and T. Q has travelled to more number of countries than U but less than P. T is not the person who has travelled to the least number of countries. The one who has travelled to the second highest number of countries has travelled to 8 countries. The one who has travelled to the least number of countries has travelled to only two countries.

Solution(3-4): P > Q > U > R > T > S
Second highest is Q. So, Q has travelled 8 countries while S travelled 2.
Hence P has possibly travelled to 11 countries.

Q3. Who amongst the following has possibly travelled to 11 countries?
(a) P
(b) R
(c) T
(d) Q
(e) S

Q4. If it is given that R has travelled to four countries less than the number of countries travelled by Q, then to how many countries has U possibly travelled?
(a) 4
(b) 9
(c) 3
(d) 6
(e) 10

Directions (5-7): In the given questions, assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the given conclusions I and II stands definitely true and give you answer accordingly. Give answer

(a) If only conclusion I is true
(b) If only conclusion II is true
(c) If either conclusion I or II is true.
(d) If neither conclusion I nor II is true.
(e) If both conclusion I and II are true.

Q5. Statements: F = A < L ≤ C > O ≥ N; Y > L; Q > C
Conclusions: I. Y ≤ N II. Q > F

Ans.(b)
Sol. Given statements:
F = A < L ≤ C > O ≥ N …(i)
Y > L …(ii)
Q > C …(iii)
Combining (i) and (ii), we get
Y > L ≤ C > O ≥ N
Thus, we can’t compare Y and N. Hence I (Y ≤ N) is not true.
Again, F = A < L ≤ C < Q
Thus, F < Q or Q > F. Hence II (Q > F) is true.

Q6. Statements:  R = E < Q ≥ B; S ≥ Q
Conclusions: I. S < E II.  B ≤ S

S6. Ans.(b)
Sol. Given statements:
R = E < Q ≥ B …(i)
S ≥ Q …(ii)
Combining both statements, we get
R = E < Q ≤ S
Thus, E < S or S > E is true. Hence I (S < E) is not true.
Again, S ≥ Q ≥ B
Thus, S ≥ B or B ≤ S. Hence conclusion II is true.

Q7. Statements:  J > K ≥ L; A ≥ K < P
Conclusions: I.  L ≤ A II.  P < J

S7. Ans.(a)
Sol. Given statements:
J > K ≥ L …(i)
A ≥ K < P …(ii)
Combining (i) and (ii), we get
A ≥ K ≥ L
Thus, A ≥ L or L ≤ A is true. Hence conclusion I is true.
Again, J > K < P
We can’t compare J and P. Hence conclusion II (P < J) is not true.

Directions (8-13): Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

Aaditya, Shyam, Radhika, Anamika, Kavya, Aakash, Anuradha and Ananya live on eight different floors of a building but not necessarily in the same order. The ground floor is number one and the floor above it is number two and so on. The topmost floor is number eight. Each of them likes a different flowers, viz Rose, Lotus, Jasmine, Marigold, Iris, Daisy, Lily and Hibiscus but not necessarily in the some order.
The one who likes Lotus lives on an even-numbered floor but not on floor no. 8. Only two persons live between Aakash and the one who likes Lotus. Only one person lives between Aakash and the one who likes Iris. Neither Kavya nor Radhika lives on floor no. 1. Only one person lives between Radhika and the one who likes Jasmine. Aaditya lives immediately above Aakash, who lives on an odd-numbered floor. Only two persons live between Kavya and Aaditya. The one who likes Iris does not live on floor no. 1. Shyam lives on an even-numbered floor and immediately above Radhika. The one who likes Marigold lives on an even-numbered floor and lives immediately above the person who likes Hibiscus. Ananya lives just below the one who likes Hibiscus. Radhika does not like Iris or Hibiscus. Only two persons live between the one who likes Daisy and the one who likes Rose. The one who likes Daisy does not live on an odd-numbered floor. Anamika does not like Lily. Shyam lives on floor no. 4.
