SBI Clerk Age Limit 2026

The SBI Clerk age limit 2026 is 20 to 28 years as on 1 April 2026. Candidates must have been born:

• Not earlier than 2 April 1998
• Not later than 1 April 2006

Both dates are inclusive. Therefore, candidates whose date of birth falls within this prescribed range satisfy the basic age requirement, subject to the applicable category-wise age relaxation.

SBI Clerk Age Relaxation 2026

SBI provides relaxation in the upper age limit for eligible categories as specified in the notification. For widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands who have not remarried, the maximum age is 38 years for OBC candidates and 40 years for SC/ST candidates, as specified by SBI.

Important Rules on Age Relaxation

SBI has specified that cumulative age relaxation is not available either under the listed categories or in combination with any other category. Candidates claiming age relaxation must submit the required supporting certificate(s) at the time of joining. The category selected in the online application cannot be changed after registration.

SBI Clerk Eligibility: Category-Specific Conditions

• This recruitment is specifically for SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies. The notification states that OBC vacancies are available to candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer.
• OBC candidates must submit an OBC certificate in the prescribed Government of India format containing the Non-Creamy Layer clause. The certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 and be valid up to the date of taking up the appointment, if selected.

SBI Clerk Final-Year Students Eligibility 2026

Candidates who are in the final year or final semester of graduation can also apply provisionally. However, if they are provisionally selected, they must produce proof that they have passed their graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026. Candidates should note that SBI considers the date of passing the qualifying examination based on the date mentioned on the relevant mark sheet, certificate or provisional certificate issued by the university/institute.

SBI Clerk Local Language Eligibility 2026

Apart from age, nationality and educational qualification, candidates should carefully check the local language requirement. Candidates applying for vacancies in a particular State/UT must be proficient in the specified local language of that State/UT. Proficiency includes:

• Understanding

The specified local language test is part of the selection process.

• Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can produce the relevant mark sheet/certificate will not be required to take the language test.

Candidates who were previously employed by SBI in the clerical cadre and resigned from the Bank are also not eligible to apply for this recruitment.Candidates against whom there is an adverse report regarding character and antecedents, moral turpitude, etc. are also not eligible to apply.
