1.Unravel (verb)
Meaning: investigate and solve or explain (something complicated or puzzling).
Example: Sonal Mansingh – A Life like No Other (Penguin Random House) is author, civil servant and admirer Sujata Prasad’s quest to unravel the cherished journey of Bharatanatyam and Odissi dancer Sonal Mansingh. 
synonyms: solve, resolve, work out, clear up, puzzle out, find an answer to, get to the bottom of, explain, elucidate, fathom, decipher, decode, crack, penetrate, untangle, unfold, settle, reveal, clarify, sort out.



2.Dabble (verb)
Meaning: immerse (one’s hands or feet) partially in water and move them around gently.
Example: Sujata Prasad studied history at St Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and Sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University, and has dabbled in classical music and dance. 
synonyms: splash, dip, paddle, wet, moisten, dampen, immerse.

3.Tumultuous (adjective)
Meaning: making an uproar or loud, confused noise.
Example: In this biography, Sujata Prasad records various terrains in the tumultuous life of the celebrated dancer.
synonyms: loud, deafening, thunderous, thundering, ear-shattering, ear-splitting, ear-piercing, uproarious, noisy, clamorous, vociferous.

4.Nostalgia (noun)
Meaning: a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past.
synonyms: wistfulness, longing/yearning/pining for the past, regret, regretfulness, reminiscence, remembrance, recollection, homesickness, sentimentality
Example: The irresistible ache of nostalgia.  I am part of a starry-eyed generation that adored her. Her dance has been part of my life for what feels like my entire lifetime.

5.Certitude (noun)
Meaning: absolute certainty or conviction that something is the case.
synonyms: certainty, confidence, sureness, positiveness, conviction, reliability, assuredness, assurance.
Example: In a sense her irresistible charm, candour and certitude of opinions worked their magic on me. It was a leap of faith. 

6.Incandescent
Meaning: full of strong emotion; passionate.
Example: What appeals to me most is the incandescent energy that flows into her art, the emotional intensity that precedes every new creation and the fact that her art is driven by her mind.

7.Hagiography (noun)
Meaning: the writing of the lives of saints., a biography that treats its subject with undue reverence.
Example: Biographies more often than not are hagiographies and in India, there is a tradition of veneration when the subject is a classical dancer or musician.

8.Veneration (noun)
Meaning: great respect; reverence.
Example: Biographies more often than not are hagiographies and in India, there is a tradition of veneration when the subject is a classical dancer or musician.

9.Dichotomy (noun)
Meaning: a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different.
Example: My book, however, does reflect on the dilemmas and dichotomies of her life and I would like to think that my portrait is not all saccharine.

10.Capricious (adjective)
Meaning: given to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behaviour.
synonyms: fickle, inconstant, changeable, variable, unstable, mercurial, volatile, erratic, vacillating, irregular, inconsistent, fitful, arbitrary
Example: I am currently browsing through Everything She Wants, the second volume of Charles Moore’s authorised biography of Margaret Thatcher, a bit of a capricious choice.
