The SBI PO Mains Exam is scheduled for 13th September 2025, and all candidates appearing for the exam must carefully read and follow the instructions mentioned in the handout to avoid any disqualification.

SBI PO Call Letter and Photo Identity Proof
It is mandatory to affix a recent passport-size photograph in the space provided on the Mains Exam Call Letter. Candidates must bring the following documents:
- Original and photocopy of a valid photo identity proof.
- Call Letter for Mains Examination with a photograph affixed.
- Call Letter of Preliminary Examination and its stamped photo ID proof copy.
- Both call letters and a photocopy of the ID proof must be submitted at the end of the exam.
Punctuality and Attendance
Candidates are required to report strictly at the time mentioned on the Call Letter. No candidate will be allowed entry after the reporting time, ensuring discipline and fairness in the exam process.
Instructions for Candidates Using a Scribe
Candidates eligible for a scribe must submit the Scribe Declaration Form along with the Call Letters. This form is available on SBI’s official website and must be duly filled out before the exam day.
SBI PO Mains General Exam Hall Instructions
- Compliance with Rules: Every instruction given by invigilators must be followed strictly. Any misconduct or violation will lead to disqualification.
- Prohibited Items: Candidates cannot carry calculators, cell phones, smart watches, notes, books, electronic devices, ornaments, or any other restricted material. Only a transparent water bottle is allowed.
- Rough Work: It should only be done on the sheets provided by the exam centre. Candidates must write their details (Name, Roll Number, Registration Number, Exam Date) on every rough sheet and submit them at the end of the exam.
Biometric and IRIS Scan Verification
Candidate verification will be carried out through photo capture and IRIS scanning. The left eye (IRIS) will be scanned for all candidates. Those wearing contact lenses were to remove them during the process. For visually impaired candidates, biometric capture of the right thumb impression will be done.
Misconduct and Unfair Practices
SBI has laid down strict measures against unfair means. Activities such as copying, impersonation, publishing test content, misbehaviour, or use of unauthorised items will lead to:
- Disqualification from the selection process.
- Debarment from future SBI exams.
- Possible legal action under The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
SBI PO Mains Exam Structure 2025
The exam will be conducted in two parts: Objective Test and Descriptive Test, followed by the Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Interview in Phase III.

Descriptive Test (50 Marks, 30 Minutes)
Candidates must attempt questions in English only. The test includes Letter/ Email Writing, Situation Analysis, Report Writing, and Precis Writing.
Penalty for Wrong Answers
The objective test will carry a negative marking scheme. For every wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. However, no marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
Phase III – Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview
Psychometric Test for personality profiling.
- Group Exercise (20 Marks) and Interview (30 Marks).
- Final selection will be based on normalised scores of Mains (75 marks) and Phase III (25 marks).
Final Selection Criteria
- Candidates must qualify both Phase II (Mains) and Phase III (GE & Interview) separately.
- The final merit list will be prepared out of 100 marks, with 75% weightage to Mains and 25% to Group Exercise & Interview.
- Marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam will not be considered for final selection.
