1. PUTATIVE (adjective) : рдЦреНрдпрд╛рдд, рд╡рд┐рдЦреНрдпрд╛рдд
Meaning: assumed to exist or to have existed
Synonyms: apparent, assumed, evident, ostensible, presumed, prima facie, reputed, seeming, supposed.
Antonyms: hidden, implausible, impossible, improbable, inconceivable, unlikely
actual, authenticated, confirmed, corroborated.
Usage: The filmтАЩs putative conclusion led me to believe the hero would return in a sequel.

2. PULCHRITUDE (noun): рдЦрд╝реВрдмрд╕реВрд░рддреА
Meaning: beauty
Synonyms: voluptuousness, grace, charm, comeliness, elegance, attractiveness. gorgeousness.
Antonyms: ugliness, filth, scruffiness, squalor, ghastliness, distastefulness.
Usage: Because we all know that beauty is only skin deep, you should always look beneath the pulchritude on the outside to see whatтАЩs going on in a personтАЩs heart and soul.

3. OBFUSCATE (verb) : рдирд┐рд╖реНрдкреНрд░рджреАрдк рдХрд░рдирд╛
Meaning: make obscure, unclear, or unintelligible.
Synonyms: becloud, befog, blur, cloud, confuse, fog, muddy, entangle, disrupt.
Antonyms: simplify, disentangle, unravel, unscramble, untangle, decipher, clarify, illuminate.
Usage: Surprisingly, the efforts of the translator only served to obfuscate an already confusing conversation.

4. MOUNTEBANK (noun): рдХрдкрдЯреА, рдзреЛрдЦреЗрдмрд╛рдЬ
Meaning: a person who deceives others, especially in order to trick them out of their money; a charlatan.
Synonyms: fraud, hoaxer, humbug, impostor, phony, pretender, quack, ringer, misleader, trickster.
Antonyms: adept, authority, crackerjack, expert, maestro, virtuoso, honest.
Usage: As a mountebank, Kristy is always looking for a way to trick people out of their money.

5. MAIM (verb) : рд╡рд┐рдХрд▓рд╛рдВрдЧ рдХрд░рдирд╛
Meaning: wound or injure (a person or animal) so that part of the body is permanently damaged.
Synonyms: cripple, disable, incapacitate, lame, mutilate, hamstring, hobble, paralyze, injure, torment.
Antonyms: cure, heal, rehabilitate, remedy, fix, mend, patch, rejuvenate, renew, repair, restore.
Usage: Jake is an irresponsible driver who will most likely take a life or maim someone eventually.

6. LUGUBRIOUS (adjective) : рд╢реЛрдХрд╛рдХреБрд▓
Meaning: looking or sounding sad and dismal.
Synonyms: bleak, depressing, desolate, dismal, dreary, forlorn, gloomy, lonesome, miserable, morbid, morose, saturnine, solemn, sullen, wretched.
Antonyms: bright, cheerful, cheering, cheery, comforting, cordial, festive, heartwarming, sunshiny.
Usage: In his first novel, the mysterious postman is the perfect example of a lugubrious character.

7. JINGOIST (noun) : рдпреБрдзреНрдж-рдкреНрд░рд┐рдп, рд░рд╛рд╖реНрдЯреНрд░рд╡рд╛рджреА
Meaning: someone who believes that their own country is always best.
Synonyms: chauvinist, chauvinistic, jingoistic, nationalist, nationalistic, patriotic.
Antonyms: internationalist, traitor, expatriot, fraudulent, knavish.
Usage: A number of John Wayne movies, for instance, are clearly jingoist and propagandistic.

8. GUZZLE (verb) : рд▓рд╛рд▓рдЪреА рдХреА рддрд╣ рднреЛрдЬрди рдХрд░рдиреЗрд╡рд╛рд▓рд╛
Meaning: eat or drink (something) greedily.
Synonyms: drink, gulp, hoist, imbibe, pound (down), quaff, slurp, swig, swill.
Antonyms: abstain, conserve, sip.
Usage: Frazier guzzled six 12-ounce bottles over an hour or so Wednesday morning, and suddenly the symptoms diminished.

9. NOISOME (adjective) : рдиреБрдХрд╝рд╕рд╛рди рдкрд╣реБрдВрдЪрдиреЗрд╡рд╛рд▓рд╛
Meaning: causing intense displeasure, disgust, or resentment
Synonyms: abhorrent, abominable, appalling, awful, disgusting, gross, hideous, horrid, loathsome, nasty, noxious, obscene, odious, offensive, rancid, repugnant, repulsive, revolting,
Antonyms: innocuous, inoffensive, desirable, enjoyable, felicitous, gratifying, heavenly, inviting, likable, luscious, nice, palatable, pleasant, savory.
Usage: The studentтАЩs noisome prank was so offensive in odor that the entire school had to be evacuated.

10. CLOUT (noun) : рдкреНрд░рднрд╛рд╡ рдпрд╛ рд╢рдХреНрддрд┐
Meaning: influence or power, especially in politics or business.
Synonyms: authority, credit, heft, influence, dominion, predominance, reign, sovereignty, supremacy.
Antonyms: helplessness, impotence, impotency, powerlessness, weakness, impuissance, frailty.
Usage: Looking to build a business, the entrepreneur was looking to establish clout in the community.
