His brilliance showed early, securing the first rank in the SSLC exam in 1983, and later topping the Pre-degree examination in 1985. Although he received a full scholarship to MIT, his heart was set on serving India, which led him to the Indian Administrative Service.

Beyond administration, Dr. Swamy has authored 34 books, mainly in Malayalam, covering travel, science, children’s literature, and socio-political commentary. His travelogue Santhimantram Muzhangunna Thazvarayil won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, while works like Nano Muthal Nakshatram Vare brought science closer to readers. His children’s books earned accolades like the Bhima Gold Medal and Kunhunni Awards. Writing in his mother tongue, he has helped preserve and promote Malayalam literature.
