The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Advertisement No. 11/2026 for recruitment by selection to various posts, including two important opportunities for candidates with a Law qualification. UPSC Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

The educational and professional requirements for the two law posts are different. Both vacancies require candidates to have a law qualification and relevant Bar practice, but the Assistant Public Prosecutor requires three years of Bar experience, whereas the Public Law Officer requires two years of actual practice at the Bar.

Note: For the Public Law Officer post, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Professional or Integrated, from a university established by law in India, along with two years of actual practice at the Bar. The required practice has to be certified by the authority specified in the notification.

UPSC Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted through direct recruitment by selection. UPSC may shortlist candidates based on their applications, higher qualifications, higher relevant experience or by conducting a Recruitment Test, depending on the number of applications and the Commission’s requirements.
