Goa’s Liberation Day 2021 History
After the independence of India Goa was still being ruled by the Portuguese, as they refused to give up their hold over Goa and other Indian territories. To get rid of this, Jawaharlal Nehru our former prime minister decided to intervene in the military. After a 36 hour military operation which was conducted from December 18, 1961. On December 19, the Indian troops were successful in reclaiming the Goan territory. Since 10 December 19 has been marked as the day to pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces for freeing Goa in 1961.
