Directions (6-10): The following questions are accompanied by two statements A and B. You have to determine which statements(s) is/are sufficient/necessary to answer the questions.

Q6. Find the amount invested by Rohan in his partnership business with his 2 other friends ?
(A) Ratio of their profit is 15 : 16 : 15 (Rohan, Vikas, Nandu) and Vikas got Rs.16000/- as profit share.
(B) Ratio of time period for which they invested is 5 : 4 : 3 (Rohan: Vikas: Nandu), and Nandu invested Rs. 20000 more than Rohan and both them gets equal share.
Statement A alone is sufficient to answer the question, but statement B alone is not sufficient to answer the questions.
Statement B alone is sufficient to answer the question, but statement A alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Both the statements taken together are necessary to answer the questions, but neither of the statements alone is sufficient to answer the question.
Either statement A or statement B by itself is sufficient to answer the question.
Statements A and B taken together are not sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:
From (A), we can only conclude the profit share of Rohan, not invested money
From (B)
Let Rohan invested Rs. x, then Nandu invested Rs. x + 20000.
ATQ,
2x = 60000
x = 30000/-
Hence statement (B) alone is sufficient.

Q7. In how many days A will complete the work, if B takes 10 more days than A and C takes 4 less days than B to do the same work.
(A) Time taken by B & C together is 10/9 less days than that by A alone.
(B) A & C together will take less time than the taken by B & C together
Statement A alone is sufficient to answer the question, but statement B alone is not sufficient to answer the questions.
Statement B alone is sufficient to answer the question, but statement A alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Both the statements taken together are necessary to answer the questions, but neither of the statements alone is sufficient to answer the question.
Either statement A or statement B by itself is sufficient to answer the question.
Statements A and B taken together are not sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Q8.Find the value of ‘bc - ab’ if c > b > a?
A. a, b and c are three consecutive odd numbers that are prime too.
B. a, b and c are in Arithmetic progression having common difference 2 and they are coprime to each other.
Solution:
From A →

a, b and c are three consecutive odd prime numbers.

⇒ a = 3, b = 5, c = 7

It is the only case which forms by given statement.

From B → a, b and c are in Arithmetic progression having common difference 2 and they are coprime to each other

This shows that they are odd numbers because they are coprime to each other

But set which can be form is (3,5,7) or (5,7,9) or (9,11,13) e.t.c

Hence, Statement A alone is sufficient to answer the question, but statement B alone is not sufficient to answer the questions.

Q9. Veer and Neeraj started a business together. Ratio between profit share of Veer to total profit is 3 : 7. Find initial investment of Veer?
A. Neeraj invested 50% more than Veer, while ratio between time invested by Veer to Neeraj is 9 : 8.
B. Veer invested Rs. 2,000 less than Neeraj while Veer and Neeraj invested for 9 and 8 months respectively.
Solution:

Q10. Find time taken by Anurag to do a work is how much more/less than that of Chiru?
A. Anurag is 100% more efficient than Chiru while Chiru and Anurag together can complete that work in 20 days.
B. Bhavya who takes 30 days less than Chiru to complete a work is as efficient as Anurag.
Solution:
From A →
Let Anurag takes ‘a’ days to complete that work while Chiru can complete it in 2a days

ATQ,

Required difference = 2a - a = 30days

From B → Bhavya and Anurag have same efficiency ⇒ Anurag can complete that work in 30 days less than Chiru to complete same work.

Hence, either statement A or statement B by itself is sufficient to answer the question.
